A Chance Encounter

"Thanks for helping me." Elise said slightly touching Kiro's arm. He could feel every nerve in that arm spring to life.

"Y-yeah." Kiro stuttered. "We should head back."

"Of course." Elise loves talking about her mom and her love of hot foods. Kiro realised he loved just listening to her voice. He wanted to dedicate his life to this simple yet beautiful girl.

"What going on here?" Her voice had softened to a whisper and Kiro crouched down beside her behind a ragged bush.

There with ropes and nets tieing him to the ground, was the giant wolf who had accidently saved his life. A group of ruff looking guys were in mid battle with smaller but just as ferosious wolves.

"Kiro! I'll do anything for you, but please save him!!!" Toma screamed in Kiro's ear. Without a thought for himself, Kiro took off. He ran past a dead body and grabbed the sword held in the corpse's hands. He owes this wolf his life if nothing else. He wasn't sure why Toma wanted to save the giant, but Kiro felt he owed the wolf.

The first knot was the hardest to cut, but with Toma's guidance, he got quicker until the wolf could move enough to break the last few bindings. The ropes fell from the magnificent beast as a howl escaped his powerful jaws. Kiro stood in awe like many around him until the wolf took off and devoured and slaughted the men so quick Kiro couldn't keep up. All he could think was how had such a creature been caught in the first place.

Kiro watched as man after man got devoured until he felt a sharp tug on his shirt. Looking down, he saw a terrified Elise trying to drag him away. Snapping out of his trance, Kiro grabbed Elise's hand and took off toward town.

Kiro lookes back and saw all the men were now dead or devoured and the great wolf's eyes were staring right at him. As the beast started after them, Kiro knew they would never make it to the city.

"Keep running, Elise!" Kiro yelled pushing her forward.

"What about you?!" Elise's shrill terrified scream tore at Kiro's heart.

"There's no point both of us dying! Just go!" Kiro yelled back running full speed back at the wolf.
