Chapter 56: You're Just a Bastard!

Yuki was happy; this had been smoother than he had imagined. Daryl lived up to his reputation as a big shot; they didn't even bother checking him. Unlike the others who underwent thorough searches, GHQ seemed to be doing a good job in this area.

" This will be easier than expected..."

Yuki wasn't fond of transforming, despite its usefulness in infiltration and espionage. Thinking of Tsunade's frequent use of the Transformation Jutsu to avoid debts, Yuki winced as he was still paying off Tsunade's enormous debt, leaving him vulnerable.

Lost in thought, a voice snapped him back to reality.

[What are you thinking? Focus on the mission!]

"Well, well~ the little kitty decides to speak."

Laughing a bit, Yuki took the opportunity to tease Tsugumi.

[Hump! I'll have my revenge sooner or later. One day, I'll know all your dirty little secrets.]

"Is that so? Do you want advice? Shall I tell you?"

[Advice from you? Ha! Am I a fool? Who would believe words from a bastard like you?]

"Don't want to?"

Despite appearances, Tsugumi was undecided. She knew Yuki's 'advice' would likely be complete nonsense, given the short time they'd known each other.

[ I know I'll regret this, but... What's your secret?]

A sly smile formed on Yuki's face.

"If you agree to be my girlfriend, I'll gladly tell you."

[It's my fault... I knew a little demon like you would never tell me.]

With a tired sigh, Tsugumi had a bad day; her stress levels were through the roof. Yuki had suddenly proposed to her, and though she denied interest, the real issue was Inori. Despite being two years younger, Yuki's charm had caught Tsugumi's attention.

"Why deny it? You know what destroys a relationship? Not infidelity or lack of communication. It's lies. A relationship with lies has no trust. That's why I'll never deny my relationship with Inori, and I won't deny that I like you!"

An awkward silence ensued. Tsugumi didn't know what to think; part of her denied it, while another part confirmed his words.

[You're an idiot.]

"Yes, I'm definitely an idiot. But will you deny that you like this idiot?"

[Damn womanizer!]

"Hey! I'm a womanizer, but who made you so charming?"

[You're a complete idiot!]

"Yes, I'm a complete idiot, but I won't let go of such a beautiful woman like you."

[You're just a bastard!]

"Um! I'm a complete bastard for wanting two women at the same time... But, this bastard promises to make you happy."

Silence enveloped them again; Tsugumi's mind was in chaos, while Yuki remained cool. He was aware that striking while the iron was hot was crucial.

[ I need to think about it; I want time...]

"When this mission is over, I'll come to your room... Just wait for me."

[...]

Tsugumi was left speechless. Yuki didn't give her time to think, and the fact that he would come for her afterward seemed like he was sure she would accept this two-way relationship.

As for Yuki, he decided to win over this 'kitty.' A confession without being face-to-face had slim chances. Yuki knew that making a woman think too much made it harder to say no. The worst and best weapon a man has is his words. No matter how difficult and untamable the lioness is, she's nothing against the softness of a male lion's mane.

After all, even the most beautiful princess can fall for the sweet words of a beast.

Though he admitted to being a bastard, Yuki vowed to live this life to the fullest and avoid the mistakes of his previous life. The only problem now was Inori, and Yuki would make sure she accepted this relationship. As he pondered all this, he had discovered Kenji Kido's location.

"Well, time to leave the cave, little one."
