"I'll ask one more time, hand over the girl before I say my magical name..."
Within what seemed like a kind of barrier, two people stared at each other.
One of them was a woman, standing approximately 170 centimeters tall, with long black hair tied back in a ponytail that reached her hips. She wore a short white t-shirt tied with a knot at the bottom, exposing her belly button, and her jeans were cut to be very short.
She wielded a two-meter-long Nodachi as her weapon. This woman's name was Kanzaki Kaori, one of the most powerful mages in the world and also a Holy Magician, making her extremely blessed since birth.
"Don't joke! I have no reason to hand her over to people like you."
Facing Kaori was an ordinary boy with spiky black hair. This boy's name was Kamijou Touma, the current possessor of Imagine Breaker.
"I guess I have no choice... <<Nanasen >>."
*Shiiiii
*Bam
Closing her eyes slightly, Kaori's Nodachi flashed, cutting through the air around her as well as through one of the blades of an electric generator's propeller, which then fell onto a pedestrian bridge.
"..."
Turning her head, she couldn't help but be surprised. Being able to cut through a propeller blade from dozens of meters away, Kaori's power was no laughing matter.
"I'll repeat it as many times as necessary: hand over the girl before I say my magical name..."
As magicians, they have magical names which are the reason they decided to learn magic. When a magician says their magical name, it means they are going to fight seriously. In this moment, Kaori was not fighting, but rather warning Touma.
Index Librorum Prohibitorum is a nun for whom both Kaori and Touma were having this discussion. Index was specifically chosen as the vessel for the 103,000 grimoires because she has the ability to memorize things perfectly and also because she is not affected by the debilitating effects of the books. She has no mana and therefore cannot use the grimoires. This reason was enough motive for Index to be the perfect vessel for these grimoires.
However, by having memorized a large number of grimoires, Index is a perfect target for mages and other organizations that desire those grimoires. Therefore, after becoming the vessel for the grimoires, she was given partners as a means of protection.
But not everything was so simple. Index, having 103,000 grimoires in her memory, occupied 85% of her brain, leaving only 15% for the memories of her daily life. The human brain is complicated, as it tends to forget useless memories, such as the leaves of a tree or stones on the path. The human brain cannot remember so many useless details, so they are periodically discarded as a defense mechanism. Unfortunately, Index did not have that luxury, as she possesses a perfect memory, making her unable to forget what she has seen. This is the reason she was selected to be the vessel for the 103,000 grimoires, and by having only 15% of her brain, her memory was filled with useless memories that Index was unable to forget or discard, which threatened her life every year and required a memory wipe with magic to maintain her life. But by doing this, Index forgot everything about her life, even forgetting her protective companions. This was the fate of Kaori and Stiyl, who are her forgotten companions and responsible for the memory wipe.
"I see. Touching and all, but... What's the catch?"
Reading with Rasiel, Yuki smiled beneath his clown mask. He also hid his presence and watched from the sky as Kaori beat up Imagine Breaker, with Rasiel gathering information, such as the reason why those two down there were arguing. Yuki had doubts.
It was possible that Index had only 15% of her memory, but... Was that true?
The human brain is marvelous, and it is still difficult to say that all its secrets have been discovered. After all, according to studies, the human brain has the capacity to memorize all the books in the world and even more.
There are millions and millions of books, not to mention 103,000 grimoires, which, although not common books, were still data information. Therefore, the human brain could certainly store even more and not be harmed in any way in daily life.
Turning to the next page in Rasiel, Yuki found the answer to his question.
Indeed, Index had enough memory so that her daily life would not be hindered. The church lied to Kaori and Stiyl about the true nature of Index's memory wipe, as they planned to make the grimoires more difficult to access, as well as out of fear that Index would betray them or apparently become a Magical God.
The church implanted a collar and a multi-layered program that would prevent her from using the magic of the grimoires, so she cannot access her mana and therefore, use magic normally.
To complete this defense, the collar made Index extremely ill and required an annual memory wipe, leading to the current situation, Index's time limit is running out.
"Hmm~"
Putting a hand to his chin, Yuki knew there had to be a catch in all this, but this was natural. Index, being the vessel of 103,000 grimoires, certainly those in power in the Church would not allow a girl with the potential to become a Magical God to be free and unrestricted. Also, to prevent her from betraying them, humans live by emotions and each emotion is a journey in life so anything could happen. Yuki even wondered if these leaders of the Church were so alert to Index, then... Why leave her free? When someone could kidnap her to extract all the grimoires from her brain, it would be much simpler if they locked her in a room keeping her in confinement, just as Aleister did with Dolly and it would prevent serious problems like what he has been seeing now.
"Eh? Did they really have that idea?"
And as he read on, Yuki found the person responsible for such an idea, as if it weren't for that person, the church had another alternative, which was to cut off all of Index's limbs and lock her inside the Tower of London to ensure the absolute security of the knowledge, unexpectedly those in the church had the same idea as him, but more cruel.
"Still, that nun is dangerous..."
Yuki still remembers how the Demon King liked Index's energy and how she was able to feel absolute terror from the Demon King, as if she knew exactly what a Champion was.
Blinking, Yuki thought about his options, the main reason for Yuki is the salvation of the sisters, he didn't give a damn about anything else, but at the same time he thought it would be interesting if he messed with the magical side of this world, after all it would be an interesting way to teach Aleister a lesson, who dared to treat him like a laboratory rat, since ever since Yuki revealed his powers over the Apocalypse Virus and his enormous potential as a biological weapon,Aleister planned big, incorporating him into his plans and using him as a basis to create super soldiers that would surpass the Espers. At this moment, Yuki was an important piece on Aleister's chessboard, second only to Imagine Breaker, and of course, Yuki wouldn't let this happen, as he is not a chess piece, he is a player. This is something Aleister had to understand...
"Hihihi, interesting... Very interesting..."
Suddenly, an idea flashed in his head, causing Yuki's smile to widen. Sooner or later, the magical side and Science side would fight in a war for world supremacy. Yuki didn't belong to either side, but...
(If I create the foundations for the war to begin... It would be marvelous~)
With Rasiel in his hand, there was nothing Yuki wouldn't dare to do...
With that in mind, Yuki descended from the sky, and he clapped, startling the duo...
"A Holy Magician and Imagine Breaker... What a strange combination, but I can see you're having fun. Mind if I join in?"
