After finishing their conversation, Kina carried Mae through the Quarter to the throne room, where they were stopped by Nimaro.
"Ah, it seems our time together has come to an end, my dear," Kina said once Mae had slid from his back.
"Unfortunately true," Mae replied, giving him a warm hug. "I'll see you tomorrow at the inquisition."
"With bells on," Kina remarked back with a wink, before turning and bowing to Nimaro and then taking his leave.
"Of all of our people, he was not one I thought you would take a liking to," Nimaro said once Kina was out of earshot.
Mae shrugged. "What can I say? He grew on me. I do get why others avoid him though. But that's a conversation for another time."
"Agreed," he replied as he closed the distance between them. "How was your time away?"
