"Dreams? Nightmares?" Lucien listened silently to the narration of the dream creature before him who claimed to be Count Sanaxis, and his understanding of nightmare creatures gradually became clear.
In simple terms, although these creatures lived within the Dream Layer, they were actually divided into two major classifications: "Dreams" and "Nightmares."
The former were relatively mild and their overall style somewhat resembled the "fairies" and "elves" one might encounter in pleasant dreams, while the latter were more ferocious, akin to the monsters encountered in nightmares.
In terms of abilities, "Nightmares" were more adept at twisting, fusing, and transforming. They themselves represented the aspect of distortion within dreams, thus appearing more bizarre and more aggressive.
