The Death and the Seal

After the first couple was cast from Eden, they worked the ground for survival. One day Adam had a strong desire to start a family. Adam was a very skilled husband and a lover to Eve, and not long after she started to show signs of conception. And as God said, the birth process after their fall was indeed painful. She bore two sons to her husband. They named the first son Cain and the second Abel.

One day instead of following the normal procedure of offering bloodshed as an offering, Cain chose to take a different approach.

Choosing not to offer lamb blood like usual, Cain chose to offer a profane grain offering. As Cain and Abel offered their separate sacrifice to God, Abel's offerings was accepted while Cain's was forsaken and ignored.The Lord accepted Abel's offering because it pointed to God the Son's future sacrifice to save His people.While Cain's actions showed rebellion, Abel's action showed the principal of redemption and by his obedience, he ultimately showed faith in God's future promise to be fulfilled. Because Cain was ignored for not following through, he became extremely aggressive. When he realized God's displeasure and showing favoritism for Abel's precise following of directions, he started to allow sin to grow in his heart.

Abel always obeyed while he chose to ignore God's request. He started to blame his brother for being perfect. His anger slowly kindled into a wildfire in his heart. God tried to contact Cain but was not listened to.

"Listen up Cain, I know how you are currently feeling but harbored anger isn't healthy. If you only listened and done as you were told, wouldn't your offering have been accepted? If you insist on doing it your way, you will open the door for sin to control you. With my help, you can improve and master this."

"No I don't want to! I will continue to do things My WAY!"

Not long after Cain told his brother to meet him in the field. When the two brothers were walking through a field Abel tried to cool his brother's displeasure but lost his life. Cain's wrath was so vile that he took his brother's life causing for his blood to stain the ground. Some time passed and then God went looking for Abel but He wanted to test Cain to see if he would tell the truth.

"Cain, where is your brother?

"IT ISN'T MY RESPONSIBILITY TO KEEP TRACK OF MY BROTHER. HOW SHOULD I KNOW?"

At that time Cain's face distorted into an ugly expression at God's question. His anger still hadn't cooled down and looking at God made him even more angry than before. How was he to explain that it was he that made his brother perish. God had a disappointed and a sad expression reflected in his eyes.

"CAIN Where is Your Brother?"

"HOW SHOULD I KNOW? AM I MY BROTHER'S NANNY?" Cain balls his fists and nashes his teeth in anger.

"What have you Done to your brother? HIS BLOOD IS CRYING OUT TO ME FROM WHERE YOU KILLED HIM IN THE FIELD. What you have done will be both a curse to you and to the soil which soaked up your brother's blood. Now on the soil that has been responsive to you will be less productive because I will cut back its ability to produce. Because of your actions, your family will never fully trust you ever again. You will be a treated as an alien and be a castoff in the community wherever you go. Your actions will precede you and everyone will know of your actions.

"THIS ISN'T FAIR! THE PUNISHMENT IS OUT OF PROPORTION TO WHAT I'VE DONE! FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE THERE WILL BE NO PLACE I CAN CALL HOME. IF NO ONE FEELS SAFE WITH ME, HOW CAN I FEEL SAFE WITH THEM? I feel like running away! Whoever finds me will kill me for killing my brother!"

God showed compassion on Cain. "If anyone kills you, the consequences will precede them seven times worse than you." After saying His piece, God put a distinguished Seal that would later shape Cain's Fate and also his later descendants.
