Chapter 84 — Su Qianhua The Bulldozer

After bowing at his father's tomb and presenting the flowers, Han Yichen took a walk, leaving Pei Yueran alone.

"Lei, I'm here. I came to pick up Xiao Chen. We agreed he would study in City M. He has checked out the school himself and he likes it."

She continued rambling for a while before she went to the main point.

"Actually, the main reason I came is that I want to tell you something."

She took a deep breath as if to give herself strength, before continuing, "I found love again."

She paused, as if she expected him to say something or show some sort of sign.

"His name is Li Chuanmo, and he is the chairman of my company. We met just recently, but I'm certain of my feelings, and he says he has feelings for me too.

"These days, I'm so happy that it feels like I'm walking on clouds. But sometimes, especially on rainy nights, I find myself thinking about you. What would you say about all this? I feel like you would be happy for me, but I can't help the feeling that I'm making you sad.

"You mean so much to me Lei, and I'll never forget you. But Chuan has made a space for himself in my heart, and I really want to see where and how far we can go with this relationship."

She paused, stroking the little grass on the grave, "I really want your blessings Lei. I'll feel much better knowing I'm going into this with your blessings. I will try to live life well, for both of us."

She sat there for a long time, the sun shining through the leaves and giving her hair more gloss. The peace and quiet did wonders for her tense nerves and troubled heart.

She eventually stood up to leave when she saw Han Yichen from afar. She beckoned to him.

They both returned to Director Zhou's apartment, still without conversation, but their hearts felt lighter.

"Ranran!"

Su Qianhua hugged Pei Yueran and almost carried her up. For a petite lady like her, Su Qianhua was amazingly strong.

"Good to see you too Huahua."

"I've told you not to call me that, but I forgive you. It's so good to see you face-to-face and not just on video calls."

"I know right? Good to see you too. Where's Philip?"

Su Qianhua gave her a look. "He should be in his hotel room. Why ask me?"

"Why not? I thought both of you would be joined at the hip by now?"

"I thought so too. But we just don't connect like that. If not, you know me, I would have taken him down."

"Huahua the bulldozer!" Pei Yueran hailed her.

"That's me! But if you call me Huahua one more time, I'll punch you.

"Yeah right, you can't do anything."

"Don't dare me!"

Pei Yueran laughed heartily. There was never a dull moment with Qianhua. "So how's the investigation going?"

"I decided to leave it up to him, and he says it's going well. We might even possibly go on a stakeout very soon. He said he has a lead."

"That's good news."

"When will you be going back?"

"Most likely tomorrow. I'm looking at a flight for tomorrow evening."

"Awww, so quickly? Nooooo!" Su Qianhua whined.

"So come and see me, won't you?"

"That would probably not happen anytime soon. But if it is for your wedding, I'd fight tooth and nail to make it. I'm the only bridesmaid you can ever have!"

"Alright alright, let's wait till then. For now, let's go and see Philip. We should take him round City A so that he can see the sights."

"Fine. He's our 'friend' after all."

"You and your friend zoning ability! Now he is just a friend right? I'm very curious though: how incompatible are you both that you won't even give him a chance?"

"Very! Besides, it's not like he has said anything about liking me, so don't get ahead of yourself."

"Alright, I'm shutting up now. Let's go."

Pei Yueran called him when they got to his hotel. He immediately went to meet them downstairs, and off they went.

They took him to tourist spots around the city, but since the time was limited, they mostly pointed out important landmarks and did not enter to visit.

Jiang Philip was not very interested, but for the sake of Su Qianhua, he tried to pretend interest and came up with many questions. Su Qianhua patiently answered them all, even though she was rolling her eyes inwardly. What idiot didn't even know the function of a museum?

She and this guy really didn't have any chemistry!

Jiang Philip wanted to cry but had no tears. Of course he knew, but he had run out of questions to keep her interested in talking!

Pei Yueran, who was "neglected" , didn't say anything. She was not a matchmaker. If they really weren't attracted to each other, she was not going to mediate anything. She didn't want to be caught between her two friends.

"Mo, she's a tough nut to crack! Tell me, have I lost my charm? How can an ice block like you get a girl but I can't?" Jiang Philip wailed mournfully, irritating Li Chuanmo to the skies.

He called Li Chuanmo to whine immediately he got back from the "disastrous date".

"I can see you're feeling very distressed. When you're in a better frame of mind, call me back." Li Chuanmo was about to end the call when Jiang Philip hurriedly stopped him.

"Fine, fine. Let's talk business then. But really, your heart is as hard as a brick. You're so unfeeling. Having a friend like you is my worst....."

Jiang Philip could not finish as he heard a click. Li Chuanmo had mercilessly cut the phone on him.

"What the!" He had no choice but to call him back.

"Alright, sorry. I called initially to give you updates. It's as we suspected—he's hiding out here. I've narrowed my search down and I'm pretty sure I've gotten the person. I'm sending you a picture now. Can you run it and find out his identity?"

"Okay."

Li Chuanmo got to work. Five minutes later, he found what they were looking for.

"He's the one quite alright. Name: Sun Jing aka King Black. 31 years old. Native of City F."

"Aha! I knew it was definitely King Black. That attack style was very familiar. But why?"

"He's in cahoots with Fen Wucai."

"Board of Directors?"

"Exactly."

"You really need to weed him out. What he did this time could have cost us a lot."

"I'm working on it."

"Good. I've already found his hideout. I'll involve the police now, but we still need evidence to tie it definitively to the main perpetuator."

"Right. Keep me posted."

"I will. Now back to my sad story, why do you think she doesn't like me? I mean she hasn't said anything, but she doesn't act interested in ...."

Li Chuanmo cut the call again.
