I was woken up by the sound of people fighting. I grunted and forced myself to get up and see what is the commotion all about. I peeked through a small gap in the door that I opened. Again, there were people fighting but this time it was two women.
"Hey, Clarise. What's happening." I said still groggy from my sleep. "Two minors got caught for fighting in an alley and it seems that both are from rich families and have 'Karens' for moms," she said as she air quoted the Karens which made both of us laugh.
After a while and what felt like the longest fight I have ever witnessed, both sides settled on having both children go on community cleaning. Clarise said it was just another normal nighttime arrest.
When things seemed to have eased up I went back to the sleeping quarters and took out my dagger since I needed to reach my one-day, one arrest quota. "Let's go!" I whispered to myself as I tried to fill myself with confidence that I could do it as I was very nervous for my first day on my special mission.
I then leaped out of the building into an alley where I detected a magic source. It was very obvious where magic was in this world since there were only a very few of us magic bearers.
I sighed before I sneaked up on that attributer. I was taken aback when she fought forcibly battling me with kicks and punches if I hadn't known better I would've thought he was a werewolf with the immense power he has since we would detect werewolves because of their wolves as it's also a magical being, but other than that we can't sense them.
Those series of attacks were then by a blast of magic I was flown towards the wall. I groaned when my back met the cold wall just right then I whispered a restriction spell then whirlwind magic swirled around the limbs of that bearer.
This time he groaned and whispered a cuss word. With that, I could only smirk at his pain. The whirlwind slowly crept through his body until it almost swallowed the unknown bearer whole. That's when I held my amulet to seek advice from an elder in the ministry of magic telepathically, but I was surprised when the leader of the ministry of magic, himself, answered my call.
"Your highness, Princess Lilan, it's a pleasure to hear from you again." The leader said, sounding genuinely happy to hear from me again. "Oh yes, same here too your highness. may I know what spell I should cast to send hind over so I can complete my task?" I asked trying to focus on the guy I'm fighting whilst still minding my manner while talking to the leader.
"Oh, I guess I have forgotten to orient you, my bad. It's just the simple transporter spell dear." He said, quite nonchalantly for such a difficult spell he told me to do right at this moment. 'Simple, Huh? Guess that's why he's the leader of the ministry of magic. Only he could say that a very advanced spell is an easy spell, what more is that I have to transport him from one world to another.' I just smirked at the thought.
"Okay, I understand, Your Highness. Thank you." I finally said going back to that telepathic section of my brain. "Yes, Farewell then, Princess Lilan. May you have the best luck!" He said in a hurry. Of course, he'd be busy. He's the leader of the ministry of magic after all. "Yes, Farewell to you too, your highness."
As our telepathic connection ended, I started chanting the spell which made the mysterious man lose all color on his face and turn pale as a paper. Seconds later into the spell, the mysterious man suddenly started quivering and slowly started to dissipate into the cold winds.
I sighed. 'Finally done for the day. A job well done Lilan.' Phoebe suddenly said. Though we've been contacting like this for nearly six years now, I am still surprised by her voice in my head from time to time. 'Might as well go back for the day now.' I said telepathically.
I went back through the window that I left open and just when I was almost done changing my clothes when Clarise opened the door to check on me.
"Hey, kid we're getting breakfast what do you wanna eat?" She said while checking in on me. "Oh, it's fine I don't normally eat breakfast," I said. "You sure?" She asked quite surprised. "Yeah. Thanks for asking though."
"Are you going somewhere?" She said eyeing my outfit. "Oh. just some morning jog and maybe I'll end up finding a job I can apply to." I lied. "Sure. Be careful on your way back then." Then she turned her heel towards the door and was about to leave.
"By the way, I just want you to know that you could always stay here for as long as you want. The guys there ended up liking your company here and that you were really-- as what you kids these days say-- cool as hell back when you saved me there plus you're still a minor so you couldn't really go anywhere much" She said smiling. "OK. Thank you again, Clarise." I said smiling.
"Stop saying thank you over and over again. I just did what everybody would've done." She said surprisingly genuine for the sentence she just said. "Not everyone would've done the same thing you know. Some people would've just given me some couple of money and or worse they would've just chased me out saying I was some kind of annoyance or nuisance..."
She just smiled in understanding and left. One thing I've learned observing people when I went out earlier or even here in the station, this may be another world, there might not be any all-out wars here, but humans are selfish and sly beings and because of this there are some fights they have to fight just to survive. And unfortunately, it's a fight much crueler than that of a war.
