The Way You Left

There is no mystery that cannot be solved in this world, and that applies to Tazanna's fiancé's death. He went to France for a five-day business trip, but the news on the screen suddenly says that he'd been found dead; the reason is unknown. Lonely and desperate, Tazanna prayed and begged the gods to bring back the man she loved, and they granted her wish—Felix did come back. With this, she encountered more people who were associated with her and her fiancé from their past lives. Tazanna only wanted justice for the death of Felix, but it turned out that the gods had wanted her to discover more about herself and who she was years ago.

The Seraph & The Reaper

"Zebin, they want to see you." I grunted. I have just woken up from my beauty sleep, and yet here they are, calling for me. Ah, they really can't do without me.

The tall gold gates that have been separating all of them from the rest of us have opened. It was like a scene from every fairy tale movie, where the most beautiful character would then make his dramatic entrance. And in this scenario, I am the most beautiful character.

"You called for me?"

"I'm sending you down to earth."

"What? Hang on! I have not been for more than five seconds, and you're sending me away already? You're hurting my feelings, my Lord!"

"I can barely even see you around here, Zebin; it is time that you go on a venture and do your job."

"You do know that a human could die if they were to see me in my true form, right?"

"Whoever told you that you'd be in your true form? You'll disguise as a human."

"What?" I whine. "Do I really need to be the one assigned for this job? Can't it be Tyrone?"

"Would you like me to send you down in hell rather than on earth now, Zebin?" My tongue rolled back to the end of my mouth; I had suddenly forgotten how to speak. "This person's name is Felix Klaus; find him and tell him how you're going to help him do what he must. However, you must not meddle with him or with anyone at all."

"And what must he do on earth? He's someone rather special, I should say, to receive a personal service from the gods, and now from a seraph like myself."

"He had been killed for a reason that he did not deserve; I had sent him back to the land of the living under one condition. You should look for the rest of the information regarding this case once you land down on earth."

"Oh, come on. What right does this mere human have to destroy my peace up here? Whatever issues he has, I am pretty sure he can solve all of them by himself. You don't need to send me to him and become his personal assistant. If anything, he should be the one worshipping me."

"Hell."

"No! No, no, no. Calm down, Your Greatness. I shall be sent down to the land of the living this instant. I have no objections nor ill feelings. Thank you for this wonderful venture. I am sure to learn a lot from this. I'll get going."

And so here I am, with this panicky human being named Felix Klaus.

"Has anything happened with Vic Franco? Have you been to Tazanna's office building today? Haven't you heard or seen anything at all?"

"All I've seen is you, walking to and fro. You are digging up a hole in this office, Felix." He realized what I just said and sat down on the cushioned couch that was right in front of me. "Can't you relax? Tazanna is sure to report anything and everything to you. Should that scum do anything to her, you will be the first person to know, won't you?"

This was beyond my expectations, if I were to be honest. I had thought that the human I'd be helping would be someone with strong mental faculties, but I ended up with a softie like Felix. The disappointment almost left me speechless. Felix stayed in that position—a hunched back; his elbows rested on his knees; and his knuckles were right upon his lips. He must be feeling helpless in this moment, but I cannot quite relate to that emotion as I have never felt anything like it. I have lived all my life praising and adoring my loving boss; I have not had any time to feel any negative emotion. However, I am learning them from watching this human that I have to look out for all the time that I am here on earth. But I sympathize with him; the fate he had in this world was too unfair.

Today makes it a week that I have been going to Tazanna's office building; it is a good thing that no one suspects anything. I see that creature has also disguised himself as a human. I wonder about his looks, but can he beat me? I am the epitome of perfection.

"Can you stop admiring yourself, you arrogant servant of God? You're too full of yourself; I truly want to slice you in half with my scythe."

"The soul collector has finally decided to appear in front of my face. How many souls have you gotten since the day you landed here on the land of these hypocritical beings?"

"That is none of your business. Have you come here to know about my intention towards her?"

"There is no need to wonder about that; I already know you've come here to take her soul. Somebody else had died in her place, and they wanted to make everything right this time. Even Felix, there is a lot more that he does not know."

"He must think I've come to harm her."

"Have you not?"

"Her name has been sent down to me, but she evades death every time it comes her way; almost as if she has a guardian angel with her. Perhaps there are still some things she needs to get done before she goes, is what I've been thinking. Besides, her life brings a little joy and excitement during my time here on earth."

"That's how you got to where you are now."

He snickers. "I do not even know who I was before. But did you really have to choose your hair blond? You're no longer divine down here, yet you decided to be flashy."

"Why'd you need to dress all black then? There is no difference in how you appear down there; all that you're missing is that spear."

"Scythe, dumbo. All you ever do is boast; never think."

"I'm holy."

"And stupid."
