Tazanna • The Afterward

Today is September 27th. I have less than four months before January 3rd of next year. Time is moving faster than any of us, and there is no time to waste if I want to save Felix from his death.

I rise from our common bed. It's still dark outside; I'm guessing it's approximately three o'clock. Felix is fast asleep; he appears serene, and this reminds me of the times when I had to sleep alone in this king-sized bed. I was overcome with loss and sorrow, and I had no idea how to begin again and live normally. It was too painful to learn that the man you had always loved had died in another nation. I wasn't by his side when everything happened, so I couldn't shield him. When he returned, I couldn't express how happy I was to have him back in my arms. I had resolved to make his death count and imprison those responsible for it. If he died in this life as well, I would undoubtedly revert to the way I was before he departed.
