Chapter 3

As I look into his familiar blue eyes with shock I realized how much I missed him and Amelia, his sister, my first instinct was to hug him, although my second instinct was to run. Unfortunately, for me, my brain wasn't connected to my legs and I couldn't move due to the shock of seeing him, and I think he's feeling the same way since he looks caught off guard. Someone comes running from behind him and it's Amelia.

She starts talking and saying, "Dan, Dan, oh my god I just found the cutest bag ever and I really want to buy it then I remembered mom left you in charge of the money this time so- oh my god, Emma? Is that you?" Amelia says finally realizing a third person is listening in. Amelia looks at me then attacks me with her hug.

"It's been so long, like 2 years. I heard what happened to your dad. I wanted to call but I couldn't find your number anywhere, I tried to text you on Instagram, but you didn't answer and I knew that you don't check your Snapchat, Facebook, or Twitter. So anyways I am sorry." During Amelia's rambling my eyes were fixated on her brother, he hasn't changed a bit. He still looks the same after two years he's still the same, although, in a way he wasn't, he had lost the light in his eyes.

"It's great seeing you guys, where's Matt he always travels with you guys. He was always the responsible one of your lot," Matt is Dan's twin brother, they were the masterminds of our stupid pranks. They were inseparable that made it odd for me to see Dan without Matt. Let's just say Dan being alone without Matt is a rare occasion. Let me explain, Matt and Dan, with the fact being twins, were the complete opposite. Where Dan was reckless, Matt was responsible. Where Matt was rational, Dan was living his life to the fullest. They were the most diverse set of twins. They had almost nothing in common, well except a few minor physical details. Something that all the Wilsons had shared was their eyes were blue or with certain family members they had green bluish eyes. They were all freakishly identical, it was intimidating. I remember the first time I went to visit them. I was a five-year-old, they had lived in this mansion it was so grand, and as a child, I was probably the strangest, I had a vast vocabulary for a five-year-old. So when Amelia had invited me for a play date, I was skeptical of well why she had invited me to her house, I mean I was the class freak. When I was greeted by a real-life butler, that's when the feeling turned from speciesism to pure and utter and intimidation. As a child, I had understood that they were intimating. When you see the family as a whole that's when we surpass the idea of intimidation and it's the fascination of the way they hold themselves. They will probably be the people that will always impact my life.

I had realized when I asked that question they had looked so solemn, it's like I was missing something, something important. I was out of the loop.

Dan was about to say something after making eye contact with his sister, yet I knew he was about to lie to me, he always had that habit of not making eye contact with me when he was about to lie. Some habits never change, so before he would have told me the lie that he was about to tell me, I had interrupted him and said, "Whatever crap you are going to tell me, save it. I have enough lies told by my family or what's left of it to listen to your lies. So I am telling you as my best friends; tell me the truth."

They had looked at me with shock and, the most dreaded look, pity. So Amelia had caved and told me the truth but before she could utter a word, my brother had walked towards us and for the one time that I didn't want his memory to work, he had realized I was talking to Dan and Amelia. He had run over and gave Dan a 'bro hug' and Amelia a handshake, she looked at him skeptically and dragged him into a hug.

"I move away for two years and you think that giving me a handshake is okay. Dude seriously. I mean it hasn't been that long; you know my rules, no awkward handshakes. What are we strangers?" Amelia had stated out loud for the entire airport to hear. That's when my

mom also had decided to show up, and greeted them, and reminded us we need to board for our flight cause it takes off in a few minutes.

"If I may ask, Mrs.-"

"Call me Natalie, please"

"Natalie, where are you guys heading, since our plane also boards in a few minutes."

"We are heading to New York, Emma got a full on board scholarship"

"OH MY GOD!"

"Shhhhh, Amelia"

"I am sorry it's just that we are heading there too!"

"Really!"

I stepped in and said, "I really don't want to ruin this moment but, if you don't hurry none of us are going to go anywhere so go, go, go"

"Shoot!"

We all ran towards the gate and thankfully made it on time.

After during the flight I had looked for Amelia and Dan's seats, they had avoided my question because Eric had walked into our conversation. I am not letting that question go. What the heck happened to Matt?

I have a bad feeling, or I might be paranoid. However, it's like whatever I do, I am always going to hurt. I don't want that. I am done with that.

I had looked everywhere and then I realized they were first class passengers and I am an economical class passenger. Well it sucks to be me.

I am still not letting the question go. I just, I am done being ignored or lied to for the sake of protection. I decide what I need to know and why need to know it. No one else, I decide.

After a long and anxious flight, I had hunted them down. When I found them I ran full speed and jumped on Dan's back.

"What the hell, Emma?"

"I want to know the truth what is happening with Matt? No lies please."

They both look at me and at each other, that's when I realized Amelia had started tearing up.
