New World

2 days flew by, in these 2 days Walter did a whole lot of paperwork. But on the second day after both of the teams left the first team came back from their reconnaissance mission. When Walter got the report about it he quickly took his military jacket and then left his tent. On the way he saw many people were preparing for something, every guard was doing something. At first he didn't know what was happening so he thought that they were under attack but then he remembered the plan that Scott and other guard captains made and then he facepalmed himself, these guards were preparing to invade the other side of the portal.

He quickly went and tried to find Scott, he called him from the radio because the camp was so big and cramped it wasn't very easy to find someone without any means of communication. Walter looked at his waist, there hung a box shaped thing, that was a walkie-talkie which was directly connected to Scott's walkie-talkie. He took it and then turned it on after a couple of seconds Walter could hear Scotts voice.

"Scott, where are you?" Walter asked while going around trying to by chance bump into Scott or find him.

"I am in front of the portal organizing the guards." He answered.

"Alright I will be there in a couple of minutes" He said and then turned off the walkie-talkie.

Then he quickly started to run towards the portal and after a couple of seconds he and his guards arrived in front of the portal where more than half of the guards were standing. He looked around for some time and then he found where Scott was. He was inside an armored car with a couple of more officers going over the plan they had previously made.

He quickly went inside the car and ordered Scott.

"What is the situation?"

"The first team came back from their reconnaissance mission and as soon as they arrived they reported to me. In their report they told me that in a couple of hours there would be a big army of creatures which are not human but not animals either. These creatures looked like humans and some animals mixed. Some had the ears of rabbits and hands of humans while some had the muscles of a tiger and body of a human. When I heard this news I quickly assembled all of the troops so we could go to the other side as quickly as possible." Scott gave his report and then looked at Walter.

Walter listened to Scott and when he was finished he asked him. " Alright, good job but where is the second team?"

"I heard from the captain of the first team that they stayed there to prepare some fortifications and other structures so that we could have an easier time there."

"Good, with that it will be a lot easier." But then he remembered that he didn't ask a critical question so he looked at Scott with serious eyes and then asked "What type of weapons do they have and what are their numbers?"

"They have around 3000 soldiers and around 300 logistical personnel behind them. Their technological advancements are at the level of medieval ages but the first team found something very interesting." Scott replied.

"And what is that interesting thing?" Walter became curious about this so he quickly asked.

"They have something similar to magic in this world. They have magicians who can cast spells." Scott released the shocking news.

When Walter heard it he was so stunned that he couldn't reply for half a minute to everything Scott asked. When he gathered himself back he thought about the impact this could have in world society. After he thought about it he became so excited that he started to consider taking the vanguard in this operation but he quickly gave up the idea. When he was thinking about these things he suddenly heard the noise of cars starting. After that he saw that troops which were stationed before the cars were already at the other side, when he saw that he caught up to what was happening.

He knew that it was time for war. The cars and trucks started to ride right into the portal he heart was pumping rapidly. Walter looked straight into the portal and when he was about to enter he closed his eyes and then when he opened them up and right after he opened his eyes, his heart skipped a beat, what he saw was a grassland full of greenery.

Walter left the car and stepped on the grass. He then looked behind him where 10s of cars were at standby waiting for his car to proceed to the location where the fortifications are. Walter thought that they could at least wait for some time so he went and stood in front of the convoy of cars. He looked at the forest ahead of him. Walter could feel the wind blowing. The air was very fresh probably because there was a forest nearby and because industrialization didn't happen in this world so it had fresh air. He then slowly looked upwards towards the sky. When he looked at the sky he saw a strange creature flying in the sky. It wasn't a bird that Walter was familiar with, and there he understood firmly that this really was a new world.

When he was finished with looking at the scenery he then went back inside the car. While Walter was looking at the scenery the guards which were previously on foot went and sat inside the trucks. They had to go on foot while going through the portal so that they wouldn't lose time leaving the trucks while they were under attack, so to be prepared Scott ordered them to go on foot. Now that they knew that this place wasn't dangerous the troops could sit inside the trucks until we arrived at the temporary base.

The guards were making sure that everything was ready, Walter just sat there and then he heard from the radio that everything was ready, so the driver started to drive and the other cars and trucks followed them. But then some heavily armored cars came in front of them, these were vehicles that had very thick armor so if an rpg hits them there is a high possibility that they could survive so Scott had ordered them to take the lead for security reasons.

The convoy went west and behind them they left tracks and dust. It seems like there is no one inhabiting this place because there aren't any roads at this place, and just because of that the convoy was forced to travel a little slower so that cars wouldn't be damaged. After driving for about 5 minutes Walter could see a camp. Some people were building something around that camp but it wasn't finished. This was the second team that Walter and Scott sent to this world to build a base and find information about the ecology, terrain and resources. The convoy quickly arrived and then everyone started to disembark from the cars and trucks. Some people unloaded the supplies inside the storage.

Walter instead of looking around talked with Scott.

"Okay, how many soldiers do you want to send to beat that small army?" Walter asked.

"I think that 300 soldiers may be enough. We will lay some mines on their path, this will damage their morale significantly and then we will ambush them from four sides and annihilate them." Scott replied.

"Alright, sounds like a good plan. But who will lead this group? Is it gonna be you?"

"No, I have to stay back here and make preparations, I will instead leave the command to the captain of Shadow guards Andrew Hensley. He is very proficient at ambushing so I have trust in his abilities.

"Alright I trust you." Walter said and then said bye to Scott, he had to leave him be so that he could do his job.

Walter then went around the camp and tried to help people and after 20 minutes a group of 300 people left the camp inside the trucks and some armored cars. Walter looked at the grand convoy heading towards the north east and felt excitement inside him.
