The Walking Dead by Dera Collins

"There's no way. You can't be alive, you simply can't! You were killed on the battlefield. You sacrificed your life for the wellbeing of the empire! You shouldn't be here. What has the dead got to do with the living?!" She shuddered in fear. "Indeed my beloved. I had been killed not by sacrificed but by betrayal. I had been betrayed by my closest allies therefore, my soul wonders seeking vengeance and shall not obtain salvation until justice be served!"

Chapter two

This chapter is dedicated to @Alejandro_Yaguare. Thanks for supporting the book.

It was fierce, bloody and intense. Everything had changed in the blink of an eye. One moment he'd charged towards Cromwell and the next, his best friend had turned on him. He couldn't quite fanthom what just happened but if there was one thing he knew was he had to keep fighting. He must fight not for victory but for survival for this time he knew he stood no chance. With Lanclan now on Cromwell's side, he'd be unstoppable and the outcome was one he didn't want to imagine for Cromwell a great revolutionist, not for truth but for the dark side. The world would be in chaos if Cromwell we're to gain much more power than he already has for he's conquered kingdoms, burned down cities and donned them with his flag. The flag of the revolutionist Cromwell.

He'd fought, with all his power and might he managed to get away for if he continued he was sure to lose his life as it was said it is better to live to fight another day.

"M' emperor what happened? What are ye alone? Where be General Lanclan?"Lady Aileen queried.

"Aileen m' lady, Lanclan be no more fer a friend a once knew had turned to the dark side. M' ally Lachlan haed been lost today fer he'd joined forces with the lad Cromwell. A fought hard fer it was a brutal battle. A managed to get away fer Lachlan be blinded by a thirst fer power collided with the enemy." O Cleirigh confirmed.

"Nae emperor, nae, fer me General would never. He'd never betray the kingdom fer he adores it so." Lachlan's wife stepped forward in denial of what her husband has done.

"Aye lass, aye, a understand thee fer a meself was shocked. Me ally, Lachlan turned on me today. He'd be a traitor and nothing more fer a thirst and greed fer power has driven him so. He'd joined with the revolutionist Cromwell, the enemy of all lands and be gone fer ever." O Cleirigh comforted Mairi, the lady of Lanclan.

"Aileen, take care of the lass fer I must take m' leave." And with that he left for his Chambers.

That night was a night if sorrow for the queens in the harem for they least expected Lanclan to join with the dark side and by morning the entire empire was informed of Lanclan's betrayal for the news had spread like wildfire and soon, Lanclan was known by everyone to be a traitor. One that was despised by the citizens for they loved their emperor so.

Back to the present, at the battlefield...

"It isn't late yet Lanclan. Return to the side of the truth for the dark side would bring upon ye nothing but destruction." O Cleirigh said hoping against all hope that his friend listens to him for he has never been an enemy but one who had treaded the wrong path.

"Aye? A will return to ye lad fer a missed ye so!" Lanclan mocked.

"There be nothing fer a on yerside fer a hae hard tae leave under ye shadows all m' life. A followed ye whole heartedly fer all these years but gained nothing from it hence a switched tae Cromwell's team fer under the guidance of Cromwell, a gained everything a'ed ever dreamed off." Lanclan retorted with a head held high.

"Nae Lanclan, nae, fer all these things ye seek be all iniquities. They do nothing but destroy a lad Lanclan. What about ye lady Mairi. Ye lass misses ye lad and she loves ye so."

Hearing this Lanclan couldn't help but feel depressed. It was true he'd acquired everything he's ever wanted but in the process he lost the love of his life. Mairi, how he loved her so...

"Enough talk. Attack!" And with that they all came at him in twos and threes, attacking so ferociously but he was faster and within minutes they all laid dead at his feet.
