"LanLin, you-" RuRong's words cut away as Zho LanLin pressed her hand over his lips. A sharp 'shing' sounded as LanLin unsheathed RuRong's sword, the dark insides of the carriage illuminating softly from the blade that shimmered as if made of stars.
'Be quiet and don't move.' LanLin mouthed.
RuRong's eyes widened as he heard it too. The steps were almost silent, only the dirt grinding against the approaching steps told them of outsiders' presence. They were coming from all sides, spreading out from behind the carriage, and working their way from both sides towards the front opening.
LanLin took in a deep breath. Two more steps and they would be by the horse. She would have to kill them before they hurt the animal. The horse was the only thing that was keeping them moving. Walking and carrying three corpses wasn't an option.
