Actually, Zenesha not only wanted to kill Carina just because of her petty revenge, but that was also part of her plan, which was to create chaos in the plot as much as possible.
She only had a limited amount of time left, and the moon ceremony would happen in less than three weeks. Now that there was a barrier that would fool those beings for a while about what truly was happening inside, she needed to take advantage of it.
If she could kill those characters that would give him any problems during that big event, she would. This was not a matter of morals, which Zenesha barely had to begin with. The result of the moon ceremony was too crucial for her; she would not allow any mistakes or spare anything or anyone that would pose a threat to her escape.
For her, Carina was a small part of it. This woman, who was part of Sorcerer's cult and Ravino's spy, needed to die, revenge or not.
Carina trembled in fear, opening her mouth to say something but unable to do so. What could she do? Zenesha already used her magic not only to intimidate her but even more so to immobilize her.
"A-Ahh..." She still tried to come out with words or even scream, but it was futile. Zenesha stared at her, softening her features as though pitying the woman, for whom the reason she was like that was because of her.
"What are you saying?" Zenesha pouted, "I can't understand you." She ignored the plea in her eyes and instead intensified the bloodlust within her.
She stopped touching her jaw and straightened her posture while standing on the side of the bed. Sighing dejectedly, "What should I do? I can't understand your answer," tilting her head and acting confused as she stared at Carina, who was already panicking with evident terror on her face.
Carian was already screaming, her trembling increased in her attempt to move and escape. Her voice couldn't be said loud but due to the silence of the night, it was still at a considerable volume that could be heard by others. Unfortunately for her, Zenesha had already enveloped the room with a moonlight barrier, so no sound could escape from the room.
She took a deep sigh, still looking disappointed in her soft features. "How about... I decide instead?" Zenesha arched her brow, and as she smiled, it looked like the god of death in Carina's eyes.
She laughed at Carina's reaction, who had already frozen from fear.
"I take your silence as you agreed." Zenesha then commanded the elements as they transformed into a needle of lights, becoming sharp and in a physical form. Smiling gently yet with extreme coldness, she spoke, "Have you ever felt how a needle can be so painful? No? Then... I won't mind giving you the experience."
Carina, who sat in the bed and couldn't move even an inch, had tears forming in the corners of her terrified, widened eyes. Her mouth continued to scream inaudible sounds, with laughter reverberating in the background as though enjoying her misery.
Zenesha stood at the side, watching Carina be pierced by the needles in her intention. They had a dozen needles in both arms, which they slowly injected into her skin, pulling some blood at the same time.
And yet, the needles didn't leave any mark or wound on her skin, despite the blood that was slowly soaking Carina's clothes and body. They were not ordinary needles, after all. And even more so, the pain they brought to the woman couldn't be described, as they not only targeted her physical body but even her origin soul and also seeped her power slowly and as painfully as possible.
Carina's face had already gone pale, sweat and tears streamed down her face, and her eyes seemed to dim significantly. Even the way she forcefully wanted to scream or move stopped.
It showed how much torment the needles caused her that she couldn't even cry out. Carina wanted to die or at least become unconscious and escape the misery she was in, but even that couldn't spare her. The pain even tore her soul; there was no way she could faint, even if she wanted to.
Zenesha, who was watching all of it, didn't even feel any waves in her heart; she saw countless deaths, and in most of them, she was the culprit. Her life revolved around killing and deaths; she wasn't new to this sight.
Wearing a gentle appearance devoid of any ruthlessness, which was in itself an abnormal expression in this situation, she looked down at Carina, who only held her few last breaths.
"Is it painful?" she asked, her sweet voice lingering with care as though finally taking pity on the woman she was torturing. Carina, with her blank eyes, only looked back, almost devoid of life. "It must be so painful, don't worry, I'll ease your pain."
Her hands then waved again, easily saving her life by an inch. After all, Zenesha's moonlight powers held authority in the life domain, and when it came to purity, even the elves' fountain of life couldn't compare to her ability, which was said to come from the Moon Goddess herself.
A bit of life shone in Carina's pupils; however, it was another wave of torture once more as the needles pierced not only her arm but even her hands, targeting her veins.
"What are you saying?" Zenesha cocked her head, and asked while chuckling as she saw Carina open her mouth and say something
Carina opened her mouth to say it again; this time, Zenesha dispelled her control of Carina's body, as even without it, there was no way she could escape anymore. Her voice, though weak, was still audible in Zenesha's ears.
"D-Devil..." she voiced out in difficulty. Carina's eyes were constricted and weak but tinged with resentment and anger. "I... I curse y-you." The last words seemed to have been uttered with almost all of her strength left, which was significantly louder.
Zenesha fell silent at first, but instantly she laughed, as though something was truly funny or interesting in front of her. With a devious grin on her face, she leaned a bit closer to Carina's face.
"You don't need to curse me, I already have one." A curse by fate... No, not by fate. As her grin darkened, Zenesha couldn't help but look ahead of her as though looking at those beings that were far above and more powerful than her.
A curse by those beings. With bitter resentment, subconsciously, her killing intent grew, and Carina's life had come to an end.
