An Unusual Breakfast
"Well, Prince Derek has requested that you prepare breakfast for him too."
Rain; "..."
"He asks for it to be served at his chamber once it's done."
Not until Lucas had hastily left the kitchen did Rain fully understand the situation she was in.
She turned slowly to observe the fire she'd set underneath the pit. Through its barred surface she could see that some of the wood had begun burning and flickering gradually into reddened coals.
She smiled bitterly to herself.
Prepare breakfast. She will prepare breakfast alright.

About an hour later, a girl whose stomach was rumbling crazily from hunger, entered Derek's chamber sluggishly. She was carrying a dish tray in her hands which contained covered plates of steaming hot soybean porridge in them.
Once she had knocked and was allowed in, she walked in with dispirited demeanor to drop the tray on top an escritoire just near the head of the chamber's bed.
