Awkward Lunch

"But we are not given a consummation day date," she replied to him seriously as she shook her head.

Adira looked too cute to him at that moment. Zaros just wanted to eat her and have his way with her.

"Do we need one? We can make our own consummation day," Zaros whispered in her ear huskily.

Adira blushed hard at his comment. She didn't know how to respond to his words.

He is so shameless!

Apart from that, he thinks about nothing!

She turned her head to the side and slept on the bed.

"Don't you want to check it?" he asked with a frown. His voice was dripping with disappointment.

"Nope. I am so sleepy," she said and yawned.

As if on cue, she let out a big yawn to the point that tears formed at the corner of her eyes. Zaros chuckled at her actions.

"Fine then. Sleep," he said.

He laid down behind her. When Adira thought that he would sleep, she was pulled into his embrace. Before she could scream, he moved to her front. He made her lay her head on his chest and kissed her forehead.

"Have a good sleep," he whispered in her ears before he slipped into his slumber. Adira heaved a sigh and slipped into her deep sleep too.

Next day...

Adira noticed that her sister-in-law and brother didn't join in breakfast. Now, everyone are waiting for her to join in the lunch at least.

Now, Apart from Lenora, everyone was already settled in the dining hall.

"I wonder what takes Lenora this long to be present in the dining hall?" Eudora remarked feeling impatient. After all, tomorrow was the crowning ceremony, she has so many things to attend to.

Servants who passed let out an awkward cough confusing everyone.

"Her highness may take a bit of time. Earlier I found her highness on the way already," a servant said.

"You are saying that from the past quarter," Serene said.

"If you see her highness's condition, you wouldn't invite her here, My Lady," A servant said hiding her smile.

Serene and everyone were confused now.

Maximus coughed loudly earning the attention of the servants. They were dismissed quickly after serving the food.

"Maybe we shall start without her," Maximus said.

"Brother! How could you say that? She is my sister-in-law. And your lawfully wedded wife in the presence of all gods and nature. This would be very disrespectful to her," Adira supported Lenora as she asked him to wait for her.

"Yes," Zaros supported.

"We have waited this long. We will wait for some more time," Serene said.

Maximus just wanted the earth to open and swallow him. Maybe he should leave.

"I have things to attend to. I will take my leave," Maximus said as he tried to leave.

"Sit down. Everything can wait. I don't think you are busier than us," Serene said in a tone that said she would not take no for an answer.

Maximus prayed to god to keep him safe from the coming danger.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Lenora entered the view in her snail-paced steps. Her dress which was covered from head to toe made her look weird and laughable but everyone held it in.

Serene, Eudora, Adira, and Zaros understood the maid's words now. Their faces turned red at the situations that unfolded.

When Maximus got tired of seeing her walking at her slow pace, he got up and carried her to the seat. He even helped her to get settled in the seat.

"Are you okay?" he asked. Lenora just glared at him for that question. Her gaze said, 'Can't you see it, dumbo!?'

Just because Lenora have a cool temper, she was holding everything. If not Maximus would have died. If glares could kill a person, he would have been buried under six feet of ground already.

Serene and Eudora who wanted to ask how was her night and how she was earlier, refrained from asking such questions. They can see the result already.

If this was the pace she was walking, it means… the maids were right. Now they realized, they shouldn't have been invited to the lunch.

Zaros just wanted to punch Maximus for putting his sister in this situation. He felt bad and sad for his sister.

Suddenly his thoughts went toward his wife. Would she be like that when things happened to them too?

He wished it would be like that. This way everyone would know that Adira belongs to him and no one can or shall touch her. This way, she would be untouched by others apart from him.

Adira was at a loss of words when she saw her sister-in-law. No wonder her brother wanted to leave the dining hall earlier. Even she felt like punching her brother for doing this to her sister-in-law. She wondered if her husband and mother-in-law were holding the same thoughts.

Sigh…

As she was deeply thinking about her brother's pitiful situation she felt a strong gaze from her side. Turning her head she looked at her husband. She let out a fake cough sensing his intense gaze.

His gaze was screaming, 'You will be in a worse state after our wedding night,' A chill ran through her spine.

Damn!

Was it that painful that even a Vampire was walking with that pitifully slow gaze? Even a one year old toddler walks faster than her sister-in-law. Adira passed a pitiful gaze to her sister-in-law before lowering her head to eat her food.

Maximus felt a blood lust gaze on him. He became alarmed and looked around only to find his brother-in-law looking at him with menace.

His gaze said, 'You deserve a beating from me for doing this to my sister,'. For the first time, he felt Zaros behaved like a brother.

Serene and Eudora noticed the ambiguous situation around the table. Honestly even this was a surprise to them. They didn't knew Maximus and Lenora would do this intensely to the point she can't walk being a Vampire.

Both the elder ladies have one thing in mind why can't she walk normally being a Vampire with quick healing abilities? The silence at the table can be sliced into two with a knife.

Eudora decided to break the silence as she couldn't bear this anymore.

"As a vampire, why are your wounds didn't heal?" Eudora asked after a thick silence.

Everyone has the same doubt. All heads turned towards Lenora putting her in the center. She became a center of attraction to everyone. Even the maids perked their ears to know the answer.

Lenora felt like an imaginary black crow flew above her head. Those curious and hopeful eyes, the perked and gossipy ready ears, and the curious hearts made her want to die in embarrassment.

Lenora turned her head slowly and glared at her husband before pleading with him with her eyes to help him.

"I looked for this in the library. I heard since we received the moon goddess gift Lenora would heal like a normal Werewolf or a human. She will be fine soon," Maximus said covering up for his wife. Lenora glared at him before giving a small smile to everyone as she continued to eat her food.

Maximus gave a sheepish smile before he continued to eat. This was the awkwardest smile in his whole life. Never did he want to have this kind of meal again. From next time, he would check her condition after sex and then will do the job of either accepting or rejecting the dinner and other party invites.

From the looks, her wife was angry at him and her brother looks menacing too. Finishing his lunch as fast as he can, he fled away.
