Casey followed Lavinia through the labyrinthine service hallways and up a flight of stairs to a hallway of offices. Pulling a key from her pocket, Lavinia unlocked the first door on the left.
Together, they stepped into what had become something akin to home until Lavinia’s…until their home was rebuilt.
Javier had been gracious enough to offer them a place to stay in his club. Lavinia had been hesitant and Casey learned it was due to her worrying about Casey having a traumatic experience in the building.
But she didn’t mind at all. It was actually a little cozy. There was a bed, really just mattresses stacked on some sort of futon, that would fit both of them, although barely.
There also was a small mini fridge that Javier had brought in and a desk with some cozy chairs they could use as a table for whatever purpose they needed. It was also bigger than all the other offices as it was on the corner of the building.
It wasn’t perfect, but it was good.
