CHAPTER 42

***Past***

RUDINA’S POV

I don’t know what to do, and I feel like crying because I don’t understand. I looked at my reflection in the mirror, and then I saw myself as the man behind me hugged me. I don’t know how he got into my room, and I don’t know how he did it like that.

“What are you doing? Who are you? Do you know what you are interfering with?” I asked him angrily and annoyed.

“I’m not as stupid as you think. But with what I’m doing, I only aim at you and no one else,” he said in a low voice.

I immediately elbowed him before turning around and seeing his gaze. I came to a halt because we both looked at each other for a little while. So I kicked him swiftly, and he instantly leaped, but he quickly responded. He moved as quickly as lightning at the moment, and I couldn’t keep up with him. He's not simple to follow, and he’s also not quick to read.

“I’m not playing with you no matter who you are,” I said, annoyed. “If you mean those two men who are here in the palace, they are there in their cell downstairs, and I can join you there,” I said as I followed his every gesture and movement.

When I was able to keep up with his actions, I formed my fist, and he hadn’t even come close to me when I suddenly hit him, and at that moment he sprang outside, so I also quickly left the room. When I came out, I immediately looked for him, but I didn’t know where he was because he suddenly disappeared like a bubble. I didn’t immediately feel his presence, but I was just surprised when someone suddenly appeared in front of me.

To my surprise, I didn't get away from him right away, and he suddenly pulled my hand, causing me to suddenly get closer to him, and my lips almost touched his lips. I closed my eyes tightly because of that.

“What are you doing?” I asked impatiently.

He smiled at me, then lifted me high. “I didn’t expect to see you more and hold you so close,” he said while smiling at me.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about. Let me go because if you don’t, you will be responsible to the king!” I said, struggling.

“I know the king, and I can ask him for the hand of his brave girl.”

I didn’t move at what he said, and I immediately went under to get away from him. “You can’t fool me no matter who you are, you animal!” I shouted, then I rushed at him.

When I started with him, he just kept avoiding my attacks, which annoyed me. I don’t know how he can do that, but the last time I was able to trick him, especially when I suddenly changed my action and attacked until I suddenly threw him down, then I my grabbed head. What I did made me suddenly tired and dizzy, causing me to slide down and lose consciousness.

I felt someone catch me, but I couldn’t see who it was. I don’t know why every time I use force, I suddenly lose consciousness. When I woke up, I was already in my room, and when I remembered what happened, I immediately looked around and found out if what happened last night was real or maybe it was just a dream. I looked through my window to see if there was anything wrong, but there was no sign of anything wrong, which made me frown.

“Is that true?” I wondered to myself.

I looked at my hand, then I sighed. I just took care of it, and when I was able to fix myself, someone knocked on the door, and when I opened it, Farkas appeared to me. “What’s up?” I asked, and then he smiled at me.

“Why do you look like a bad trip?” he asked, then entered my room.

“Something happened last night, and I don’t know if it was a dream or real,” I answered, then I took my sword and went out.

Farkas followed me, then looked at me. “Who?” he asked, and I stopped, then turned to him.

“That’s the thing I want to know. Who is that bitch,” I said, annoyed, then walked again.

When I got to where Father was, I immediately bowed to him, and then I approached him. “Good, and you’re here. I just have something to introduce to you, Rudina,” he said, then I frowned.

“Who?” I asked.

He looked behind me, then I heard a voice that I had just heard last night, and I couldn’t make a mistake, especially when I felt his presence. “A good greeting from our king,” he said while placing his hand on his left chest.

“He’s Davon,” father said, then my eyes widened.

“It’s you!” I said as I pointed at him, and he just grinned at me. “There’s nothing funny!” I shouted angrily.

Father held my hand and told me to calm down. “What are you doing, Rudina?” he inquired.

“He was the one who broke into my room last night, father!” I said and Farkas immediately pulled out his sword and pointed it at Davon which surprised me.

“Is what the princess says true?” he asked Davon and the tone of his voice was very scary.

He grinned and then took Farkas’ sword blade. “You don’t have to point your weapon at me; another one is that it’s just a mistake; I did nothing to her,” he said.

I don’t know why he’s still calm, and that irritates me. I sat next to my father and raised an eyebrow at him before giving him a bad look, but he wasn’t even scared of what I did to him. There was too much going on, and my blood was rising on his unpleasant smile that couldn’t be wiped from his face.

“Davon is your new companion because your aunt Thana needs to rest first,” he said to me, then I turned to my father.

“What? That guy? I’m better with Farkas,” I said, then he shook his head at me.

“It’s better that you leave, and you need to start your mission,” he said to me, and then I got up and just followed my father order.

I didn’t speak anymore, and honestly, I really don’t like what this guy is doing now. First of all, I know that the day I chased Cassius, he was there, and that the one I was chasing was none other than him. But the only surprising thing is how he managed to escape from him and how suddenly Cassius appeared out of nowhere.

While walking down, Farkas was just walking with me, and he could hardly get close because Davon was between us, and he was making me hot. I stopped, and then I looked at both of them, and then I looked at them evilly, which silenced them both. When I did that, then I led them on a walk, I couldn't help but think.

I know it’s been a long time since I last talked to mom, and I don’t know why dad doesn’t tell me where she is. Even Farkas is hiding my mother from me. I just took a breath, then I looked somewhere, and in my mind I didn't notice the stone in front of me, and I almost tripped.

“RUDINA!” Farkas and Davon both shout my name.

They both hold my hand, and I don’t know what to do first. They both pulled me upright, then I gasped. After that, I took my hand back, then I started to walk. Nervous, I grabbed my left breast and wondered why I was so nervous even though I had nothing to worry about.

“What are you thinking?”

“Fck it!”

“You are thinking too deeply,” he said, but I just turned my back on him and ignored him.

I told them that they shouldn’t follow me because I want to be alone and because I’ve been stressed a lot lately. They didn’t question me or even scold me; that’s why my world was quiet for a mean time. While I was alone and looking forward to the silence all around, I heard my mother’s voice calling my name, so I immediately looked for where her voice was.

“Mother?” I called while looking around.

“Rudina, help me,” she said, and I turned again.

“Mother?” I repeat and call her name.

While looking around, I couldn’t help but be nervous and think about what might have happened to her. While I was looking for the voice, I couldn’t help but be afraid and worried about her. Father neither told me where Mother was nor told me what happened to her.

While looking for her voice, I heard a rustling around me, something that alerted me. While looking around, I immediately prepared my sword, and unexpectedly someone suddenly appeared in front of me, and my eyes widened because of that, so I didn't immediately use my sword, especially when I saw who it was.

I closed my eyes tightly, then I crossed both my arms, but I heard a sound and I didn’t feel any pain in my body. When I opened my eyes, I saw the woman in front of me with her sword buried in the monster, which worried me.

“Mother!” I called, and in my shock, I suddenly pushed the woman and didn’t look to see who it was.

“Daciana,” a man called, but I didn't look back.

“Mother,” I cried, then I held her hand.

“Rudina!” I heard Farkas shout, and suddenly someone pulled behind me, then Farkas took my mother from me.

“What the hell! Let me go!” I said, trying to escape. “Didn’t you hear me? Let go of that mother, Farkas!” I shouted angrily.

“Rudina, this is not the right time for you to get lost because your mother is not in her right mind right now, and she is one of the ones we need to lock up now,” he said, which made me even angrier.

This time I kicked Davon, who was behind me, then I gave him a strong kick in his stomach, causing him to splutter. I looked at Farkas, then I fought him, and even though he was able to escape my attacks, he couldn't single me out. I immediately moved behind him, and I pointed my sword at his neck, and he didn't expect me to do that.

“I don’t need your advice because of what happened today and what you kept from me about where my mother is!” I said angrily, and Faskas and I both raised our hands.

I immediately went to my mother, and then I touched her face, and I don’t know how something like this happened to her when before she was never like this, and as far as I can remember, she was a wolf and even once I never saw her become like this.

“Aunt Rieka is a lycan, Rudina,” Farkas admitted, then stood up.

“Why are you saying this now? Does that mean you have known something about my mother for a long time?”

“Because the king doesn’t want you to perish!”

“Not even when my mother didn’t take care of me, Farkas remembered that!”

Farkas couldn’t speak to me, and suddenly he bowed. I didn’t look at her anymore, then I carried my mother on my back to take her home to the palace. I didn't even look at Daciana, who was in Aztec’s hands, and I didn’t apologize to her. To be honest, I didn't notice that she was the girl in front of me, and I didn't mean to push her like that.

When I arrived at the palace, my father immediately greeted me, and then he raised his hand, causing the soldiers to stop, then he came to me. “What are you doing, Rudina?” he asked me.

“I don’t know what’s going through your mind, father, but now I’m asking you for a favor; leave my mother in my custody because if you don’t I will not think twice, even though you are my father; I will kill you,” I said firmly, and I was not asked or stopped from what I was going to do.

I took my mother to my room, then I put her on the bed and looked for something to treat her. When I was about to stand up, she suddenly grabbed my hand, and I turned to her. “I’m s-sorry, Rudina,” she said, then I sat down.
