Shitty Life

The mother clearly heard Klast when he entered the scene. Her scolding and the earlier incident attracted some attention and now, a crowd surrounding them formed.

"What's happening?"

"The woman let go of her child's stroller and now she's blaming the motorist for being fast."

"What? But I saw that the scooter was even slow for a highway."

"She's unreasonable."

Hearing the murmurs around her, the mother tightened her hug on her child. She then burst out-

"Young man, are you telling me what you did is not wrong!? You almost hit my baby!"

"Let's go."

But Klast ignored the woman and whispered to Katelynn's ear. What Klast said struck Katelynn. Right, why was she apologizing?

'No, this is my fault in the first place...'

She thought.

Klast turned around, expecting that Katelynn had already followed him but as he ride his scooter, he turned his head to see that she was still back and kept on apologizing.

"What is that girl doing?"

He was a bit dumbfounded. This made him think that maybe, she's just doing this just to go against his word since she hates him to the core.

Back to the ruckus, Katelynn continued to apologize as if they were the cause of the accident until the woman gained satisfaction.

"Oh, so it's the couple's fault, I thought it's the mother."

"Yeah, I thought it was too since she's the one who's supposed to be holding the stroller."

"But the girl's already admitting her and her boyfriend's mistake."

"Tsk, couples these days."

Hearing this, the woman finally stopped her scolding.

"I'll let this go. You almost caused a tragedy today. Next time, be careful."

Klast heard this and was further irritated. But since it has reached this point, anything he says will just extend the trouble.

After apologizing one last time, Katelynn was let go and went towards the scooter. She knew that she couldn't just walk away from Klast with everyone watching.

Klast looked at her as if she's stupid but she ignored it before riding onto the scooter. But before he could drive away, the police enforcers reached them. It seemed that a traffic enforcer had already reported the incident.

After a long while of irritating interrogation from the police even though it's not their fault, they were let go with a warning since no real accidents happen. After all, they were not in the wrong and the so-called victim, the mother didn't file a complaint.

When Klast drove off, he finally asked.

"Are you mentally ill?"

There was no emotion, yet it was frank. There was a pause before Katelynn answered-

"Everything is my fault. My luck does not only affect me but also my surroundings."

When Klast was about to retort, she continued.

"From now on, everything that unlucky that will happen to you is also my fault. This is the price what you did."

Katelynn's coldness naturally permeated from her.

"Then why do you blame me for the explosion. Isn't that your fault too?"

Klast said as an argument but he struck bullseye. Katelynn remembered her dream and sure enough, he was right.

For her sake, her father and little brother would meet up with her. If only that's not the case, they would still be alive.

'But how could I bear not see them?'

Katelynn felt her heart clench as it aches.

"I'm sorry, I'm not as heroic as you think. I can't just tell myself that not seeing them is for the best. Should I live all my life separating myself from my loved ones, huh!?"

Katelynn's voice became louder and louder. Thankfully, they were on a busy highway. Only Klast would be the one who can hear her.

"What kind of shit life is this!? I can't love anything! I fail at my passion! My possession hurts me! And I can't even kill myself! So what am I going to do, huh!? Should I torture myself every day!?"

Without noticing it, Katelynn began hitting Klast's back.

"But now because of me, they're gone! Ahh!! Damn it all! This world can go to hell! He had endured it all for me! Even remarried just to say that he's living a happy life! But now he's dead! And Ken! Oh my god, he's so young and I did that to him!!"

Without caring that other people might see her, Katelynn cried and wailed out loud while hitting Klast's back until she got tired.

Soon though, she turned silent and at the same time, they reached their destination.

When Klast parked the scooter only then did Katelynn realize that he brought her to her apartment.

"Huh?"

"You'll be late for school. I have no task today and that means you too. So you should go on to your daily life... if you can."

Katelynn wiped her face before getting off the scooter. She didn't ask why but instead, another whole question.

"I thought you don't speak much. Why are you so talkative?"

"..."

"There's no point in being silent, I already pointed it out."

Katelynn then looked at Klast's emotionless face with a glare. There was a pause before Klast shook his head.

"No, I didn't say anything because I'm restraining myself from saying how fucking dumb you are and it's unfortunate that you failed to kill yourself."

After saying that in front of Katelynn's face, Klast frowned.

"Shit, I let it out again." he then glanced at Katelynn and saw her shocked face, "Hm, since the cat's out of the bag, I'll tell you why I'm don't speak much. I'll explain it clearly so that your rotten brain who only knows how to cry and apologize can understand. I'll even ignore your audacity to call me talkative after all your wailing."

Katelynn went deeper into shock the more Klast speak.

"The truth is, I can't filter my words. What I think comes out of my mind. Of course, I don't speak too much." he then looked around before continuing, "Because those useless back in the Hassier will feel offended since ALL of them have a fragile ego."

He then lazily pointed at Katelynn.

"And your job is to filter my words or I might tell Manager Grehm how much I hate his spiky hair or how much I admire the Division Leader. Understand that?"

"... what?"

"I won't repeat myself. Figure it out on your own. You're already registered to the Hassier as my tool so I know where you live and where you go to school. After school, I'll come and get you. So stop being depressed and bitching about how unlucky you are and go get ready for it."

Klast then started his scooter. But before he drive away, he spoke more.

"Oh, and don't apologize anymore. You're not the only braindead person out there. It's their fault too."

After revving his scooter, he drove away, leaving the words;

"Also, keep everything about Hassier and your situation a secret or you'll face something worse than death from those sadists in the Correction Council!"
