The heated exchange between Jude, Mia, and Maryann continued to escalate, drawing the curious stares of the other guests. Sophia could feel the tension in the air, and she knew that if this continued, it would only lead to more humiliation and embarrassment.
Just as Maryann was about to unleash another scathing remark, Sophia felt a gentle tug on her sleeve. She turned to find Granny standing beside her, her expression uncharacteristically serious.
"Sophia, my dear, I think it's time we made our exit," Granny said, her voice low and urgent.
Sophia blinked in surprise. "Granny? But what about-"
Granny cut her off with a firm shake of her head. "Never mind that, child. This is no place for us tonight." She cast a pointed glance towards the heated confrontation. "I won't have you or me caught up in that woman's petty games."
