NEW CAPTAIN?

Tien Jr. looked at Shuu calmly, then descended from his position to meet him.

"This… hasn't happened in the sect, ever. I am afraid this is the first time I am dealing with a dilemma like this. You are definitely stronger than the inner disciples," Tien Jr. remarked.

"What do you mean, master?" Jay blurted out.

"Yes! I understand that he might have beaten Jack, but don't you think he was lucky and can't access his Kagune now?" Jen argued.

"Then come at me. Who knows? This is your chance to become a direct disciple," Shuu smiled, beckoning Jen.

Jen was about to react when Shuu appeared behind her, causing her to gasp without turning around.

"Oh, I was just picking up my weighted anklet. There's no need for you to be on guard," Shuu teased as he crouched to adjust his left anklet.

"There. Now, if any of you believe you can defeat me, then come at me," Shuu challenged again. This time, the area was quiet without complaint.

"Congratulations, Shuu, on yet another victory tonight. Still, you need to remain here for now. But you will be taking Jack's room," Tien Jr. said, coughing to get the attention of his disciples.

"Jen," Tien Jr. called.

"Master!" Jen bowed slightly.

"Run ahead and remove Jack's things from the captain's room. Sweep, mop, dust, and prepare the room for a new captain. The sheets and bed have to be changed, of course. Now!" Tien Jr. ordered, and Jen left immediately, her figure resembling a shadow in the moonlight.

"Cecilia!" Tien Jr. called.

"Shuu is the captain of the Senior Disciples for now until I decide whether he should join the Direct Disciples sooner or later. As of now, he is the captain of the Senior Disciples, and you will give him a full orientation of his responsibilities and duties. You will be his assistant until he requires you no more. Am I understood?" Tien Jr. ordered, and Cecilia nodded.

"As for the rest of you, you might be the best and brightest senior disciples, but don't let that go to your head. You just saw how Captain Shuu defeated former Captain Jack without using his Kagune and has proven to be a better fighter than most without it. You will all accord him his respect from now on. Is that understood?" Tien Jr. ordered once more, and the senior disciples responded positively.

"Even Kamishiro couldn't defeat his captain when he was a senior disciple. Congrats, Captain Shuu," Tien Jr. congratulated Shuu once more.

"There are even more surprises for you all, so just wait!" Tien Jr. said as he left the area.

"Tch. I was about to ask him when I can start as a Direct Disciple. Annoying," Shuu muttered to himself as he stretched his body.

The senior disciples couldn't believe what had just happened. Cecilia had predicted Shuu changing the hierarchy, and now they had to answer to a complete newbie!

"Cecilia!" Shuu called.

"Aa... Captain!" Cecilia answered. This was happening. Cecilia had just answered Shuu as captain, and Ray's hope of defeating Jack to become captain shattered with that sentence.

"Do we have bathrooms to bathe in? I can smell myself, and I smell bad!" Shuu said as he walked closer to her.

It was now Cecilia noticed how tall Shuu was up close. She could see how chiselled and lean Shuu was for a ghoul. Most ghouls were not into physical fitness since they could already overpower the average human easily, but some who did, became too big, which was something Cecilia didn't like since she grew up watching male Korean pop idols. The young man in front of her looked like one, but more muscular.

"Do we have a place we can shower? What's your name?" Shuu asked, wondering what was happening to the girl. Maybe she wasn't satisfied with the results of the fight and wanted to have a go at him as well.

"Oh... I am Cecilia. And yes, you have your personal shower and bathroom, Shuu... Captain," Cecilia explained.

"Good. Now, I can understand some of you probably wanted to be captain or something, but I couldn't care less about the title. If any of you get in my way at all, you will meet the same fate as Jack. But let's work together, and I will be out of here before you can say... Jack! Ha, that fit well, didn't it?" Shuu smiled as he walked through the small group and past Jack, sleeping comfortably in a crater made just for him.

"Cecilia!" Shuu called.

"Captain!"

"Now why don't you show me the way? It's not like I know this place."

"Right away, Captain!"

Meanwhile, in the outer disciple plateau...

Torvald, Mark, his group, and a few others were giving the senior disciples watching the outer disciple plateau the look of a predator watching its prey.

In fact, Torvald was about to get up and challenge one of the senior disciples there until they all felt a heavy presence on the plateau.

They all looked up and found an angry-looking senior disciple on top of a rock formation high enough to oversee the outer disciples.

"Isn't that Ray?" one of the senior disciples watching the outer disciples asked.

"What's one of the geniuses of the inner disciples doing here?" another senior disciple asked.

Ray's eyes scanned the plateau until they widened. Only a few outer disciples could meet his gaze, which angered him more as he left immediately.

"That's not good," Mark whispered to his group.

"Ah. He looked at us as if to check for something," Ashley added.

"Could this be related to Shuu being made a senior disciple recently?" Gin asked as he stroked his chin while chewing on his meal.

Torvald looked around to find the other outer disciples looking down at their food or doing something so as not to meet the gaze of the senior disciple who just left.

'That one felt stronger,' Torvald thought as he folded his arms and looked at Mark's group, who also met his gaze for a second.

"You see! Even Torvald thinks so too!" Mark whispered again.

"I say we prepare a bit and get ready to challenge these senior disciples and find out what's going on!" Ashley said.

"We already have the strength to take on these senior disciples, and they know it. We too can break records by becoming senior disciples before the day of examinations," Gin said as his group looked at some senior disciples who couldn't believe how quickly the group attained strength.
