Shuu approached the unconscious Jack with caution until he was two feet away from his body.
"AARRGGHH!" Jack screamed as his semi-conscious body sprang up unleashing a flurry of kicks that landed nowhere.
"He can still move?" Cecilia couldn't believe her eyes. She had been preparing different battle tactics and techniques solely meant to counter ghouls like Jack since he was so versatile in long and close-range combat. She was confident she would defeat him after watching Shuu knock Jack out cold but seeing him recover didn't sit well with her.
"I guess he didn't nickname himself the reaper for nothing." Jen smirked with folded arms.
Tien Jr was ecstatic but refused to show it. He didn't get involved in the fight since he hoped for this outcome and he wasn't disappointed. A lot of rules in the clan could be changed tonight based on the outcome of this battle.
"That's good, you were so weak, that I lost all interest in becoming a senior disciple. Let's go!" Shuu said already finding calm in his rage as his posture adjusted to fit his new fighting technique.
With that statement, Jack regained full consciousness. His eyes were a warm glow of red, and his breathing was steady as his body pushed forward for an evolution.
"What is your name?" Jack asked as he straightened his back.
"Shuu. Tsukiyama Shuu." Shuu replied as his stance got lower.
"What a name… Shuu. Thank you. Thanks to you, my body has reached new levels of evolution! I don't think I am suited for this level anymore, I need to advance from being an inner/senior disciple to a direct disciple who knows, with this newfound strength flowing through me maybe I can even become an heir now!" Jack marvelled at his newfound strength coursing through his veins.
Meanwhile, his mates looked at him in anguish, they couldn't believe that he was basically saying he didn't see them as a threat anymore and would advance quickly and faster than them. After all, they were once together as a group like Ashley and the others.
"You talk too much." Shuu said as he launched Jack high into the air with a palm attack that made Jack's figure look smaller when observing from below. Shuu immediately joined him after making a jump.
"That speed!" Tien Jr this time couldn't help but add his commentary as he jumped higher to land on a higher rock formation to see the battle in the sky better. The rest of the students did the same intending to watch the fight closely as well.
Jack only laughed midair as he began attacking Shuu, this time his hits were harder.
"You want to fight me in the air? Me? The reaper? Although I call myself the reaper, those who fought me, call me little sky dragon." Jack had to shout so his words would be heard as they were high in the sky.
Shuu kept taking the attacks without the ability to stop Jack as their bodies began observing free-fall.
"Ahh, maybe I was too excited. But Jack has clearly gotten stronger. To think a newly advanced inner disciple who had barely gone through a day as one gave Jack what he needed to break through is amazing. Maybe there is still hope for this dying clan." Tien Jr said to himself but was clearly heard by the students around him.
Now their master had confirmed Shuu's value and more importantly, that Jack was stronger now which meant the gap between Jack and themselves only grew larger. Cecilia released a sigh as she accepted this now and watched the Shuu and Jack fall while the others could only grit their teeth in annoyance.
"HAHAHA! WHERES IS YOUR CONFIDENCE? NOW THAT I AM STRONGER YOU CAN'T FIGHT BACK AGAN. YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE TO END ME EARLIER BUT MISSED IT, NOW YOU DIE!" Jack screamed as his kagune appeared, now denser and darker.
"TAKE THIS AND THIS? …HOW ABOUT THIS?" Jack kept taunting his opponents as seconds were what separated them at the ground below. Jack getting annoyed launched a full-powered punch at Shuu's centre causing a cracking sound.
"How?" Jack asked as he found his right hand disfigured due to Shuu's hard skin, he wondered if, just like him, Shuu also got stronger while they fought.
"Thanks, I only needed to see your movements and create loopholes and counters, that's why I let you hit me. But now it's over." Shuu said as he phased out of Jack's vision and appeared behind Jack.
'Amazing, my body feels lighter now! Wait that means I need heavier weights now. I can practically perform moves with my body that are playing in my head! I don't think I can do a Kamehameha right now but I am not leaving that possibility out!' Shuu thought as a wicked smile crept on his face. He felt his RC levels reach a new peak and couldn't wait to exploit his new strength.
Shuu grabbed Jack's tendrils and began spinning in quickly that Jack couldn't help but curse at him. Jack was about to rip his tendrils but Shuu sent him flying upwards again. Shuu on the other hand was descending but suddenly copied a move he saw the master use subtly and by tapping his feet lightly on the air as if to step on it.
"NO WAY!" Tien Jr almost choked on his words as his eyes bulged. Was a fight of this level really happening in the inner disciple mountains?
"Master what happened?" Ray asked calmly but didn't get any answer and looked back up to find Shuu… higher up, in the sky?
"HOW??" Ray couldn't contain his voice as he saw Shuu who was supposed to be landing right about now. Of course, he would be surprised. That technique was called Void Step and only direct disciples were taught that, and not even fifty percent of direct disciples could learn it. But Shuu had seen too much anime to know too many movement styles and techniques that performing them now wasn't just a wish since his body met almost all the requirements.
"That's Void Step. But how? I barely showed it to him and he is trying to replicate it although it isn't complete if not he would have met Jack in an instant." Tien Jr explained as he began to see what he thought couldn't happen in his lifetime as the Vice Sect leader of the Wind Emperor Sect.
But that boost wasn't enough for Shuu as he landed on the ground with Jack having two seconds to reach maximum height from Shuus throw.
Shuu, adding power to his legs crouched lowly and jumped, reaching incredible heights in a second till he met Jack at a hundred feet in a second. His jump created a small crater which left the disciples around Tien stunned.
Shuu, wasting no time at all, began to feed Jack's body with attacks, his arms almost tearing through Jack's body as palm prints could be seen all over him. Palm attack after palm attack until Jack Kagune dispersed and his eyes rolled back. It didn't even take more than three hits for Jack's body to completely shut down midair as the both of them landed at the same time. Jack's body, was a mess and in a crater of its own shape while Shuu landed uprightly as if nothing had transpired.
"I think I am ready to be a direct disciple."
