Chapter 22: Drugged and seduced

Mia

Mum's surgery didn't take place on the said date any more. It was pushed to the next day. I didn't want to go back home as I didn't want to miss anything, so I started the night at the hospital.

Next day

'She will be alright' Connor comforted me as mum was being taken into the surgery room.

'Come on Mia, have a seat' Sophia walked me towards one of the chairs.

I followed her to sit down. Henry was there too, he patted me on the back and gave me an assuring nod.

I was so glad to see them here. They were here for mum, they were here for me and it made me happy.

'I will just step out for a bit' I told them after waiting for a while and not seeing any doctor or nurse coming out of the surgery room.

It scared me and I didn't want to display any sign of weakness in front of them.

I did what I knew how to do best in situations like this, smoking. I slumped on one of the benches outside the hospital and leaned my head against the wall and puffed out the smoke several times.

Nervousness took over me again. I closed my eyes and started drumming on my thighs.

Someone squeezed on my right hand that was drumming on my thigh.

'You are definitely going to die young' I know his voice quiet well.

I opened my eyes and he was seated right next to me, I just continued to stare at him as he retracted the cigarette from my lips.

'Did you miss me that much?' He asked me

'What are you doing here?' I asked him instead

'I came for you' he smiled

'For me?' I asked

'Well technical for your mum, you know she likes me right?' He said, causing me to laugh.

'There. Now you look better. We don't want your bad mood affecting our weather' he said touching my cheek and I chuckled

'Any updates?' Logan asked me

'Nothing yet' I responded

'Yesterday at the hotel…..' he stopped me

'We are both adults. These things happen, let's just say it never happened, a one night stand kind of thing' he said

I said those words to him this morning at the hotel. Why did it not feel right now that he was saying it to me.

'My words against me' I stated

'Maybe, but your words were true and right' he said

'Okay' I simply said

'Mia you need to see this' Sophia said just she realised Logan was there with me

'Oh my God, he's even here. You both need to see this' she exclaimed again

'What do we need to see?' Logan and I asked in unison

Sophia shoved her phone in our faces.

It was a clear headline that read.

"CEO LOGAN ADAMS DRUGGED AND SEDUCED BY A STUDENT INTERN"

My eyes widened in shock, 'where did you get this?' I asked Sophia

'It's all over the internet now. It was posted about two hours ago and guess who the student intern in this news is' Sophia asked me

'You' she answered when I hesitated to answer

'Mia, who is she?' Logan asked after a while

'Sophia, my best friend' I answered

'The one who likes handsome guys' he said and I nodded

'I'm Sophia, Logan. Mia and I are always talking about you?' Sophia said and I pinched a little

'Ouch!, why did you do that Mia?' I signalled for her to keep quiet.

A notification popped up on my phone with the same topic as the one Sophia just showed me.

I tapped on it and read the contents, so many negative comments.

'She is such a slut, how dare she do that?' one of the comments read

'Desperate at such a young age, she's evil' another read

'Poor Logan Adams, a little brat drugged him'

'People will do anything for money'

'So Logan Adams isn't gay after all, do you guys think she knows?'

'I need to meet her, I need to know the source of her courage'

'Ughh!!' I screeched

'I know, so many lies' Sophia said

'What's wrong Mia?' Logan asked me but I was interrupted before I could answer.

'Mia, the doctor is asking for you' Henry announced

I stood up abruptly.

'Sir Logan, what brings you here?' Henry asked shyly

'Yes…..uhmm, what's your name again?'he faked not knowing his name

'Henry' Henry helped him

'Good boy' he said in a sarcastic manner and you could tell that Henry got offended

'I can go with you to see the doctor ' I suggested. I was trying my luck but she didn't decline, I was on cloud nine.

'What is he doing here?' I asked Mia when we were alone heading to see the doctor.

'Same thing you are doing here' she answered with an irked tone.

'Not the same thing, your mother knows me as your boyfriend, what about him?' I asked

'Are you seriously trying to make a fuss about this at this time?' she asked me

'He's into you I see it' I told her

'He's not. I'm older than he is' she retorted

'His age doesn't stop him from liking you, mine doesn't' I said again before I could take my words back

'What's wrong if he is into me then?' She asked me

She's clueless.

Just when we reached the doctor's office, my phone buzzed and I checked it.

I saw the trending news, it was about us, Mia and I.

'You can get in, I'll just wait out here' I told Mia and she nodded

Mia went in while I stayed behind. They netizens were saying so many terrible things about Mia and it irritated me to the core.

I needed to do something about it. I called Kevin to find out who published that piece of information.

'I already saw it boss' he answered from the other end

'What are you doing about it, you guys are supposed to be taking care of my public image and reputation, where's Hector and the others?. Call everybody, I need results' I sang out

'We are all here, boss. We have been on it for the past one hour and a half, boss. There seems to be no trace of the person who posted. Their location keeps changing and it indicates places very far from here' Kevin reported

'Someone is messing with me and you guys are doing nothing about it' I yelled and ended the call.

'Is everything okay?' Mia asked me when I turned around

'Yes yes!' I said promptly

'How long have you been there?' I asked her

'Just the part where you said someone is messing with you' she laughed

I found her gestures to be adorable, what is happening to me.

I cleared my throat.

'What did the doctor say?' I changed the topic

'Nothing to worry about. Mum is good to go, just reminders about her medicines, therapy and checkups' she said

'That's good, did he say if we could see her?' I asked her

'Yeah, but she isn't awake yet' she answered as we made way to her mother's ward

'You should get some rest Mia, go home' Connor told Mia

'No. I will stay here, mum might need something when she wakes up' Mia complained

'You've been here since yesterday, I don't think your mum will want to hug a smelly and sweaty Mia' he teased

'Connor is right, I'll take you home Mia' Henry said out of nowhere

'Where did you come from?' I said earning glares from everyone

'I meant where did you go?' I tried to convince them

'I will be the one to take Mia home, Henry' I said

'I will drive Mia home' Sophia said

'Thank you Soph' Mia said with exhaustion evident in her voice.

No one could object to this. Sophia was her best friend after all, unlike Henry and I.

'Mia can we talk before you leave?' Connor asked Mia and she obliged.

They went to a corner to talk while I waited there patiently. I don't even know why I was waiting when I wasn't going to be the one taking her home anymore.

'Let's go' Mia said when she came from talking with

Sophia got up to follow her but she turned around.

'Logan, I want you to take me home. Soph I'll call you later, you too Henry' she said

'Logan?' Henry asked

I'm certain he's wondering why Mia addressed me by my name so casually.

No one spoke.

'What's wrong?' Connor asked Henry

'Why are you calling him by his name Mia?' Henry asked

'Will you rather prefer she called him babe or love, though I would prefer that' Connor butted in

'Wait!, what!, why will Mia call him those?' Henry asked

We were all trying to tell Connor to stop talking but he didn't get any of the hints.

'Because they are a couple, isn't that normal. Oh my God!, the look on your face tells me you didn't know' he said and scratched his head.

'Are you his girl friend Mia?' Henry asked her

I don't even understand what his problem is, I just waited eagerly to here Mia's response to Henry's question

'Yes Henry' she said making me release a breath I didn't know I was holding

'I'm sorry Mia' Connor apologised

'Its okay Connor, I will go now. Logan!' she called my name like I was in trouble.

I followed Mia as she passed me by and went on outside.
