Chapter 9: Class

I tried to watch the note slides carefully, but my mind wandered easily and I found myself asking Dan for notes from the previous slide.

I tapped my index finger on the corner of his desk and he looked back at me with his chin is his palm.

"37?" I whispered to him.

He nodded and slid over his paper to me as I continued to scribble everything i missed back down.

"Here you go" I whispered again, and handed him the paper.

"LOVE NOTES I SEE?" Ms. Brooke sqwauled.

"Huh?!" I blurted out as she stomped back to our seats and ripped the paper out of Dan's hands with deadly force.

She skimmed over the paper and slammed it back onto Dan's desk where he looked like a nervous wreck.

"You're lucky this time" She replied, glancing at me, then at Dan.

Melody giggled, but was then silenced too, by the teacher.

I looked back over at Dan who finally looked like he had calmed down. I noticed he had a watch and I pointed to it to ask the time, nonverbally, in fear of the teacher.

He held his finger up to his lip and placed his wrist in my hand. I blushed a little. It was 9:56. Four minutes until class was over. I let him have his hand back and got back to my notes.

Before I knew it, the bell had rung and I was on my way to my next class.

"Aw I don't have my next class with either of you, do I?" I asked both Dan and Aiden.

"Nope. Advanced chemistry." Dan replied.

"Gym" Aiden awnsered.

I sighed and hoped for the best.

Dan and Aiden dropped me off and waved me goodbye as I entered the classroom.

A wave of embarrassment brushed over me as I saw a couple kiss. Another girl the one I saw earlier stood in front of them.

I stepped up to them.

"I-uh- what was that?" Apollo asked.

"Melody?" I asked.

She pulled herself off of him and looked down at me.

"Ugh what?" She replied.

I backed up and grabbed my phone out to take a photo.

"CLICK!"

"WHY- YOU LITTLE RAT" Melody said, stomping over towards me.

"YOU SAID YOU'RE WITH DAN YOU CHEATER!" I Squeeled.

"Hey hey hey." The girl from earlier interrupted, but the boy started to become angry.

"Melody" Apollo spoke angrily "You're with Dan? My younger brother? AND YOU DECIDE TO LEAD ME ON AND KISS ME?!"

"Honey no- it's not like that, I-" Melody tried to explain, lifting her palm to his shoulder.

"NO" He said, knocking her hand away. He walked away angrily, stomping.

"Wow. Great job Jaci" The girl whispered to herself.

So her name is Jaci huh?

"Er...Jaci" I said.

Jaci looked at me.

"I'm so sorry about your boyfriend-" I was quickly interrupted by Dan.

"MELODY" Dan said, just standing there in the middle of the hall.

She flipped her head to look at him.

I felt emotions I never even felt before as I saw him standing there. Tears started dripping down his cheeks as he clenched his fists tightly.

"Oh get over it crybaby" Melody said.

Dan couldn't hold in his feelings and ran off, crying.

I felt overwhelming rage and ran up to Melody, punching her square in the face.

"OOF" She said, holding her face, crouched down.

She removed her hand to reveal that her nose was trickling with blood.

"RAGGHH"

She grabbed my leg and pulled it, causing me to fall on my bosom. She then continued to slap my face and pull my hair. Jaci pulled her hand off of me and threw her against the wall.

I found the opportunity and ran off to catch up with Dan. I found him further down the hall, all alone, curled in a ball of his own tears.

"Hey. It's alright." I said, trying to comfort him. I slid against the wall and sat down beside him.

"Well I was gonna tell you..but.." I continued.

He raised his head up and looked at me with his head on his knees.

I scooted in closer to him and wiped the tears from beneath his eyes.

"Its okay" I whispered.

He leaned his head back against the wall and we set there like that for a few seconds before Jaci came up to us again.

"Hey um, you have this or should I stay? I really want to find Apollo and make sure he's ok, but I'll stay if needed" She asked.

I waved her on and continued to sit there for a few minutes before the bell rang again. The late bell. I got up before he could to help him up and we headed our separate ways.

Hm interesting. I walked into the class where everyone was silent.

This teacher was a middle-aged male with light hair and a lack of facial hair. He had dark eyes and a tall stature that stood out over the students.

"Welcome. Welcome loves" He said, calmly, in a thick english accent.

I went up to ask him a question as all the others read a history book.

"Er. Sir. Where do I sit?" I asked.

"In front of Liam there" He replied. He stood up and pointed out a boy near the front of the classroom in a dark hood.

N-n-no. Not him.

"Um can I sit somewhere else?" I whispered to him.

"Sorry love, no more seats" he whispered back.

I gulped and walked to my seat.

I sat down nervously, shaking.

"You're doomed" He whispered from behind me.

I closed my eyes for a few seconds and dozed off.

I opened my eyes to find everyone else had left, but the teacher and Liam.

The teacher laughed and whistled as he closed to the door with a lock.

Liam stood up and looked around confused. He must've been sleeping during class too.

"Fresh meat" The teacher smiled.

"Uhm yeah I'm new here" I replied.

"That's not what I meant" He responded to me, fangs growing through his lips. Vampire.

I stood up and backed up as he approached me, accidentally running into Liam. I looked up at Liam and realised he was much, much taller than me.

"You wont lay a finger on me" Liam said. Liam walked to the door and tried to pull the handle, but it didn't open.

The teacher turned and approached Liam, growing claws.

Liam's wings broke out from his hoodie.

I knew they was gonna fight, and I ran to get in between them.

"You'll regret this" Laim said.

I stepped in between them and pushed them away from each other, but the teacher sunk his fangs into my arm.

"GAH!" I yelled.

I got my other hand and rolled it into a fist, punching him in the head.

He let go, but my hand was bleeding.

"GET OFF HER" Liam said, running past me.

He grabbed the teacher by his medium length hair and threw him against the ground. The teacher was resilient however, and got back up quickly, dropkicking Liam.

Liam raised himself up and grabbed the teacher's foot before he could kick him.

I grabbed my pin from my hair and it transformed into a staff with a carved swan at the top and grabbed the mask from my backpack and put it on.

Still nothing.

"You think a Halloween costume will stop me?" He asked, chuckling.

I swung my staff at him but he dodged it.

He continued to chuckle.

Liam ran at him again and attacked him, throwing his fists at him.

Suddenly, I felt a tingling sensation.
