Chapter Fifteen

"You! Come here and help me out instead of running around like a chicken with its head off!" Tsege yelled over her lungs at her best friend Sara.

"I am not running around 'like a chicken with its head off' instead I am trying to help the chickens at bay." Came Sara's reply.

"And that is what makes you seem like a chicken with its head off woman! Now, get over here and help me out with this flour. Give the chickens to the kids… they will do a good job if that's what you were about to say." Tsege replied fast so that Sara didn't have the chance to talk back at her own best friend who is bossing her around.

Ester is four day away now and today is "Tselote Hamus" as they call it. This day is the day where Jesus Christ washed the foot of his apostles. The day the people of Gojjam will do the same to the elders.

Here we have Tsege grinding Teff on a rock with another rock. She was preparing the flour for the coming Ester and also yelling at her best friend while the guys are busy buying a goat, sheep or an Ox that's going to be eaten on the holiday.

Everyone is running around the house trying to get almost everything done since tomorrow is Good Friday or "Seklet" as they call it in their language Amharic.

Sara; Tsege's best friend called some of the kids to tell them to keep these chickens at bay while she is going to be off doing something. She also tried to threaten the kids when Tsege yelled at her to come to where she is and help her.

They grind and grind but it doesn't seem to end. The harvested Teff was too much and they are going to cook for many people since they are going to have a celebration/party about it.

"Whew!" that came from Tsege's mouth as they finished what they were doing.

"My back!" and that came from Sara. Doing what they were doing really hurts your back. You will feel the pain for some time but if you are going to rest well, it will go away with the help of massage.

"Now that we both are done, I am going to go and rest… My lord…" Sara said wincing as she moved her legs also moving her waist.

"O wow o wow ow" said Tsege as she moved her own. "My goodness, for how long have we been doing that!" she also joined her best friend at wincing.

"If I hadn't joined you, you would have been dead my goodness… with these entire women helping us, it still hurts." Sara said also asking Tsege to say 'Thank you' to her but Tsege didn't seem to get the indirect massage instead she walked off grumbling on how she is supposed to train if she hurt her back.

Speaking of training, Emanuel has fully healed expect it hurts when he moves his arm around a lot but other than that he is okay now.

Emanuel's and Wolde Samuel's fight (verbally) became a children talk and should I say it became a meme if it was at the present?

Emanuel wouldn't stop commenting on everything Wolde Samuel says getting Wolde Samuel pissed off. It was really pissing him off the he was once close to beat the hake out of him but he controlled himself 'unlike someone who can't seem to control his mouth.'

Wolde Samule's and Tsege's relationship is becoming embittered in every second ticking.

One day he tried to apologies to her but he couldn't say the word out loud which made Tsege mad more.

*Flash back starts*

Tsege was walking around the village as she does every single day when she runs into Wolde Samuel.

She tried to walked past him to avoid him but he blocked her way standing in front of her. Getting irritated, she snapped.

"What do you want?"

"Ummmm…" was his reply to which she rised her eyebrows in questioning what he meant with the 'ummmm'.

"I wanted to… ummmm… say… ummmm" he kept on stumbling on his words and Tsege got the massage immediately that he was trying to say sorry.

Getting the memo, she crossed her arms in front of her chest she stood taller in front of him questioning him with her looks.

'This is going to be really fun!

Getting him say 'Sorry' to me, will be a huge news to everyone.' She thought smiling to herself but on the outside, she put the most unaffected face as if she in a calm.

'How to say it without saying it out loud?

Why is she calm?

Can't you get the message that I'm trying to say?

Why are you so difficult?

Why did I say those words?

I wouldn't be in this situation if I had kept my mouth shut.

But why do I care?' was his thoughts as he was staring at her and her staring back at him.

"Never mind." He said and was about to walk away when her voice stopped him on his spot.

"You were about to say 'Sorry' for what you did to me, right?" she asked.

He turned around facing her again.

"Then why did you not say that you get what I meant and dismissed me?" he asked.

"Why would I be doing that? You should say 'Sorry' for what you did, should you not huh?" she said her voice getting higher and higher word by word.

"Why would I be doing that if you got the message?" he asked throwing her words back at her.

She really go irritated than she was and she said, "If you aren't going to say the word, then you shouldn't have come to me to stumble with you words. You should be thinking about it, you should be sincere in order for you to be forgiven for god's sake!" with that she walked away from him but stopped after some steps.

"Also, grow up for once. You should apologies for what you did instead of beating the bush around." She said using his own words on him leaving hi dumbfounded.

*Flash back over*

Sighing, Tsege walked to her home and she literally threw herself on her bed. She knows that she shouldn't be in her bed at this hour but she was really tired to care about that and her last thought was on how Wolde Samuel is rude to everyone.
