Chapter 32
Skip to three weeks later, April came over when no one was at home. She loved her red lingerie, they were having a fun time together fooling around on Rowan’s bed. As Rowan left to go to the bathroom for clean-up, April had lounged in Rowan’s bed—and then suddenly found the other pair of underwear under the sheets. Ones she didn’t own, and ones that were clearly not in her size. She accused Rowan of cheating, and in light of what she truly was doing, Rowan had agreed. Yes, I’m so sorry, let me explain…but that explanation had never occurred. April left the house in a rage. They stopped speaking at school. They were in their senior year, and that summer, never rekindled any kind of friendship or forgiveness before they left for their post-secondary lives.
“I’m so sorry,” Rowan said now. She touched April’s shoulder and was surprised when she took her hand in her own. She brought it to her mouth and kissed her knuckles.
