C19. The Hallmaster

The Hallmaster came to the elders followed by the medicine Palace director. The Hallmaster had the fierce look in his eyes.

Everyone bowed to the Hallmaster in respect only Kai Feng bowed in fear. He was sweating like a fountain. The person in front of him was so powerful that even the Chain Hai dared not to offend. He could wipe his whole family in one fell swoop.

The golden medallion was completely useless in front of him.

"Master Du, why are you here? Wasn't you busy refining the new pill?" Su Chang was puzzled. The Hallmaster should have been busy in his chamber refining a new pill so why was he here? And even the director was with him.

"Sigh... It was a failure, again. The recipe we bought turned out fake. I told the director to find the culprit who sold the recipe to us. We were discussing this when we heard voices coming out of the VIP room. What is going on here? Who is this person?"

"Lord Hallmaster, I'm a member of the dragon claw clan. It's really an honor to see you in person. You are just as grand as I heard of you." Although Kai Feng never met him, he knew who this person was.

If he had the golden medallion on him then maybe one of the dukes send him here.

Du Guo coldly snorted "Show me the pill recipe!", "Please, have a look!" The second elder handed over the recipe note to the Du Gou.

"This recipe?... It looks authentic... director what are your thoughts on this?" Du Guo passed the note to the director for her opinion.

"Hmm, Although the paper and ink look quite new, the recipe seems to be real."

'If both Hallmaster Du and director Yi passed it on the appraisal, then it got to be real.' Kai Feng gained his confidence again after hearing the appraisal.

"This pill is not that simple, it is much more profound, that I can not comprehend completely." Du Guo said while staring at the note.

"Well maybe it's because the recipe is incomplete that's why Hallmaster can't comprehend it entirely." The second elder said. It left him shocked for a moment.

"In-incomplete...?"

"Y-Yes, the guest told us that he left out some important ingredients and steps to refine the pill properly." The second elder also realize how precious this pill recipe was. She sighed in her heart. It was a good thing she stopped him from going.

Du Guo glanced at it again. His brows frown grew even deeper after a while, and he muttered to himself, "Can such a pill recipe exist on this earth? It looks complete as it is. I have walked the paths of the dao of alchemy for all these years, yet still remained so ignorant?"

"That recipe if it goes into production, then all the Qi tempering pills of the Azure Kingdom, and even those of the neighboring four kingdoms, would be trash compared to it. Demand will dry up as the White sun pill will take the market by the storm. Give him the money he demanded and buy the full pill recipe."

The third elder and the other two elders were gobsmacked. They hadn't anticipated that, after the appraisal, that fake-beyond-words pill would turn out to be most likely real.

"But this esteemed guest is not willing to sell it. He demands fifty percent share on profit." The third elder said.

"What?! Fifty percent?!...This..."

He gazed at the pill recipe and pondered for a while and said, "Ok, I agree but I want to know from where you acquired this recipe. Did duke Chain Hai send you or duke Li wang?"

"Sir none of them send me but you will know next week. It may surprise you too." Kai Feng said and Du Guo didn't further inquire. Kai Feng gave them the full pill recipe and collected the ingredients before leaving the medicine palace.

They acquired the recipe was good and all, but elder Du's words were too frightening. This never happened before where the Medicine Palace gave an equal share to an outer person even if the person is a duke himself.

But this White Sun pill could cause all other similar products to be pulled from the shelves? This was simply too intimidating to contemplate.

This was cornering the market! To corner a market meant high profits and extremely high return on investment. Even the mere thought of it was enough to make someone shudder all over.

if this White Sun pill wound up in the hands of the hall of seven poisons, then that would be an extremely bad development.
