Aurora's pov

It's 7:50pm now which means it's almost time for dinner, Lilith and I were still sitting on our bed doing nothing. We are supposed to be on our way to the dinning Hall but Lilith and I have decided to be going late to dinner for quite sometime now, because of the never ending arguments in the group. It's been over two months since Sabrina agreed to help me in perfecting my powers and to teach me some spells. Since then we've been really close but my powers are not getting any better and the spells she taught me are not working either or rather I couldn't cast them. It's confusing because at first it worked I could cast the spells she taught me with ease and use my abilities, I was also good at using my powers but suddenly it stopped. All of a sudden none of the spells were working, no matter how many times I read them or chant them it wouldn't work, but when she or any other witch did, it works. It's just like I'm no longer a witch. But I know it's not true because one or two spells I cast are still working but the weird part is that none of those spells were ever taught in the academy. I don't even remember where I heard the spells, it's just there, it's just seems like a part of my memory. It's a really big problem because this week we are having a test in sorcery class and I don't know what I'm going to do since I'm not able to cast any of the spells taught. And as you've guessed we weren't able to present anything during the presentation and so we indeed got a more serious punishment. Throughout our one week detention we just sat in the class in silence not bothering to interact or learn about each other, so at the end of the week we had nothing to say during the presentation principal demitrey requested for. He was so disappointed that we only learnt the names of our teammates and not only that, some of us couldn't even remember the name of our teammates and by some of us I mean all of us. Not to forget the two boys who refused to say their names, so let's just say we already knew we were not going to have any thing to say and so we were all prepared, but no matter how much we prepared we were still shocked at the punishment principal demitrey gave us. The punishment was that we were going to continue having detention throughout our first year in the academy. That's an entire year of detention. So every day after school we have detention till 6pm meaning we have only 2 hours to rest before dinner, It's really annoying but apart from that there's nothing new, nothing's changed. There is still the constant bickering between Sabrina and Amber and the two boys who refused to give their names still haven't uttered a word to anyone but they keep looking at me with curiosity and interest I still haven't figured out why though. And things are going pretty well with Hydra, she and her mate have mated and they are always together and can't seem to keep their hands and lips to their self, they keep sucking each other face much to everyone's discomfort but I'm happy for them even though they make me uncomfortable with their make out sessions. In less than a month we would be going on a month break and I'm so happy because I have missed home, I miss my Friends and family and also I will be eighteen in two months time, meaning I get to celebrate my birthday at home with my friends.

"Let's get going Aurora it's almost 9 and I'm sooo hungry" Lilith said pouting.

"Arghhhhh how many times have I told you to stop pouting, it hurts my eyes" I said rubbing my eyes exaggeratedly.

"I hate you" she said still pouting.

"Oh common, you know you love me" I said smiling putting my hands around her shoulders with ease since I'm taller than her.

"No I don't" she said trying to pull my hands off her shoulders.

"Liar" I said smiling pulling her closer to me.

"Yh yh whatever" she said no longer trying to pull my hands off her.

"And pouting is not for everyone, it's for people with gorgeous features" I said teasingly.

"That hurts" she said faking hurt while placing her hands on her chest.

"It was meant to" I said laughing.

"Anyways I have been wanting to re-dye my hair for some time now but I don't know what color will suit me better, purple, green, orange, what do you say?" She asked staring at me.

"Are you serious? Green, orange?" I asked staring at her like she has gone crazy.

"Yh so.....?"

"Go with purple, that will suit you better" I said making her smile.

"That was my first choice" she said beaming.

"After the break I will dye it" she said with eyes filled anticipation

"You sure do like dying your hair, don't you?" I said walking into the dinning Hall.

"Yh, my natural hair color is so black and dull, all demons have black hair and I hate it. So I dye my hair" she said shrugging.

"Ohk" I said before taking my seat In the table I've already gotten so used to.

"Hey Aurora" Sabrina said smiling at me.

"Hi" I said.

"I heard the sorcery test is tomorrow" she said making me choke on the water I was drinking.

"This is bad" I said wiping my mouth with a napkin.

"Yh what are you going to do?" She asked staring at me sympathetically.

"I have no idea" I said feeling down.

"Well I'll try to help in any way I can, so you can count on me" she said in the attempt of making me feel better but it wasn't working.

"Yh sure" I said staring at the food I was about to eat, no longer having the appetite to do so. Well great, now I have lost my appetite.

"I'm going back to the room, I suddenly feel so tired so I'm going to bed" I said to Lilith before walking away.

"Are you ok?" I heard a voice behind me, turning around I realized it's just Eva.

"Yh just feeling a little down that's all" I said.

"Well I just wanted to keep you company since you'll be bored staying in the girls dorm all by yourself"

"Don't bother I'll be fine and I won't be bored anyways since I'm going to bed" I said to her.

"Doesn't matter I'll still go with you Incase you need someone to talk to" she said smiling while holding my hands pulling me towards mine and Lilith's room.

"You know, I can tell there is something bothering you you don't have to keep things bottled up when you have friends you can talk to" she said immediately we walked into the room "you can tell me about it, you know it's not good to keep things to yourself, sometimes you just need to talk to someone to help you feel better. Keeping things bottled up is unhealthy." she said making me sigh.

"I'm not sure talking to someone would help me feel better" I said sitting on my bed sighing.

"But you can try" she said walking to the bed sitting close to me.

"I'm not sure" I said.

"Well how about I go first?" She said.

"You know everybody has their own problems, just because they don't show it doesn't mean they don't have. You know I've always wanted to have a mate, someone to love and cherish me, someone that's going to be with me no matter what" she said smiling bitterly, "I know mermaids don't have mate but I still feel I do. Whenever I hear stories about mate I feel happy and feel there is someone out there for me" she sighed then continued.

"Even if mermaids don't have mate, it's not impossible for other species to be mated to us, there has been many cases like that and I wish to be like that as well, I don't care if I have to wait for eternity, or atleast if I don't have a mate I can atleast find someone I love and cherish and who loves and cherish me back. But it's not going to happen". She said.

"I haven't actually told anyone this but after our first year, I won't be coming back to the academy. My dad only allowed me to come because our king requested me to come and learn more about my powers and get more powerful before I get married to his arrogant son, so I won't be completely useless and so I'll be fit to stand next to the man-whore he calls son" she said now on the verge of tears.

"My parents never wanted me, they always say I'm a mistake that was never meant to happen, so when our prince met me, he wanted to make me one of his many mistress" she said chuckling bitterly "what better way to get rid of their mistake, they actually agreed for the prince to make me his mistress but then the king said his son is at the age of marriage, so he should take me as his wife and since I'm the daughter of his friend. The prince didn't want to, he said he didn't want to be tied down to anyone but then the king and my parents told him that it's ok for him to still keep his mistresses and for him to take other wives, and let's just say the prince was happy about that but that didn't stop him from hitting me when we're alone, saying he only wanted to have sex with me and nothing more, he said he hates me and he just wanted me to warm his bed, he says I'm just beauty and nothing else, he says I'm not worthy to be his queen. You know I'm not as powerful as other mermaids my age and I guess that's why my parents hate me, I can't even manipulate liquids and I'm supposed to be a mermaid, do you know how that feels?". She asked.

Of course I know how it feels I'm going through same thing.

"He says he is going to make my life miserable after we get married, he says he's going to torture me till I beg for death. To be honest I'm scared, so scared, but there's nothing I can do, nowhere to run to, so I've accepted my fate. All my dreams have been ruined, all my life I've always wanted someone to love me and cherish me but that is not going to happen now" she said wiping her eyes. "I should be depressed but I'm not because I know I only have one year of freedom and one year to live my life with happiness and I'm not going to waste it being sad or thinking about how my life would be in a year time so now I'm going to be happy and live my life to the fullest because I know what the future has in store for me". She said, and here I thought I had the worse life ever.

"You know I haven't actually told anyone about this but I'm glad I did because I trust and I just feel so safe around you even with your dark energy" she said making me confused about what she means by my dark energy. "I feel so much better" she said staring at me with a smile on her face. She has a sad story but I'm going to do everything I can to ensure she doesn't end up getting married to someone she doesn't love, I'm going to make sure all her dreams are fulfilled because she trusted me by telling me all this and I'm not just going to sit down and let my friend's life get ruined. "I don't care what I have to do but I'll make sure her dreams are fulfilled". I said to myself with determination I never knew I had.
