Chapter Two

I look around to analyze my surroundings. There are humans everywhere. To my left and right, mere humans are walking tall with their nose pointing towards the sun.

"Where the hell am I?" I ask myself.

Some people freeze in place when they see me. It went from a few to an army of people.

"There's a demon!" one of them cries out of fear.

I look at a distance and see someone from the past. It was Shoki! I quickly jump onto my feet and grab my giant bag. I rush towards him. He looks straight at me.

"Why is there a demon here out of all places?" he asks himself.

That's when I notice that he has changed. He's no longer the little boy I knew. He doesn't recognize me in this form. The form of a male demon lord. He pulls out his half of the legendary sword.

"I'll exterminate every demon in my path," he says and attacks me.

I summon my own swords made out of dark magic. I glare at him.

"You've changed," I say and counterattack.

"Who are you?" he asks.

"I hope this jogs your memory!" I shout and pull out my half of the legendary sword from the past.

"Kensei?" he asks.

I smile and say, "I can't believe you still remember me."

He strikes my sword with his.

"What are you doing here?" he asks.

I make a bunch of swords made out of my dark magic and make them rain down on him. He uses his light magic to speed himself up to dodge the swords.

"Wow, you've gotten better at using your magic," I said. "Too bad you're not the only one that's been training."

I throw off my black earring and crush it using my foot. The giant statue of a woman appears behind me. Her eyes open, and her blood flows straight into the cup she's holding. She then smashes the cup onto the road. People scream and evacuate the area. A girl with pink hair steps in.

"Stop the battle!" she shouts.

The tips of her hair are white and her eyes are lime green. She's a complete fashion disaster. She's wearing long, striped socks that are all loose and wrinkled. She's wearing a mini kimono like a blazer on top of her crop top. She's also wearing shorts that don't even fit in with her entire outfit.

We both pause along with the statue.

"You two are going to destroy the city at this rate!" she shouts desperately.

"Fashion Disaster, get out of here! This guy is dangerous!" he yells at her.

"You're just as much of a threat as she is!" she shouts and holds onto his hand.

"I didn't know you had a girlfriend," I tease.

"You're going to get it!" he says angrily while clenching his teeth.

The fashion disaster blocks his path. I turn around and smile.

"I doubt any of you can defeat me," I said with a dark tone.

I use my magic to unveil my wings. I fly up, into the sky, and leave the area.

"That girl is truly a demon lord," Shoki says.

"Girl?" the fashion disaster asks. "That's one smoking hot demon! How in the world is that even a girl? He's got rock-hard abs!"

"We should probably report this to the Adventurer's Guild," he says.

"I agree," she says and they both walk away from the area like nothing ever happened.

I fly through the sky freely and drop the transformation to return to my regular form. The cool breeze brushes right through me. I start to sense something large following me. I quickly turn my head around and see a dragon behind me. I turn my head back around, but I still sense the same dragon following me. I create a sword and strike the dragon. For a quick second, the dragon descends into the forest below. It rises back up just as fast and continues to follow me. This dragon starts to get onto my nerves. I flip over and face the dragon.

"Why are you following me, you stupid dragon?" I yell.

It stares at me and continues to follow me.

"I need your help," it says telepathically.

"Are you not a normal dragon?" I ask.

The dragon's expression suddenly changes.

"Watch out!" it shouts in my head.

A whole flock of birds rams straight into my back. I start to fall out of the sky. The dragon slaps itself in the face.

"I warned you," it says.

I continue to fall at a very high speed, but it's not fast enough to the point that it's out of control. I pull out the sword I usually have hidden in my pillow out of my bag. I throw it onto the dirt floor and make sure my feet are the first things to hit the floor. I land on top of the edge of the handle of the sword. The dragon crashes next to me.

"How in the world are you able to land on your feet from that speed?" it asks.

"Why should I tell you, you stalker?" I refuse to answer the question.

"Please help me," it requests.

"Why should I help a stalker dragon that can't get out of my stupid brain?" I ask.

"I'm not the one that needs the help, but a special dragon does," it answers.

"And who's this 'special' dragon?" I ask.

A human-like creature pops up from the dragon's back. It has horns and a dragon tail. It smiles and shows all of the sharp teeth inside its mouth. There are patches of skin and orange scales all over its body. It hops off the dragon. I notice that the creature is really a mysterious, naked man. I quickly cover my eyes and my face becomes as red as a cherry. The man starts to run around me on his hands and feet.

"Why does this have to happen to me?" I ask myself.

"My request is to take care of this dragon which was born in an odd form. I'm willing to do anything if you can take care of him," the dragon says and grovels.

"Just hurry up and give him some clothes!" I shout.

"But what do I use for his clothes? How do humans put clothes on?" the dragon panics.

I point my finger at the dragon and give it a temporary humanoid form.

"Grab the cloak and pants in my bag!" I yell and toss the giant bag towards the dragon.

The dragon digs through it and pulls out the pants and cloak. It walks up to the man and dresses him.

"He's dressed," says the dragon.

I uncover my eyes and the results shock me.

"I'm so sorry, Dad," I said.

"Are you okay? Is something wrong?" the dragon asks.

"Cloaks are not supposed to be used as diapers, and pants aren't supposed to be placed over the head. It's not a hat!" I say in disappointment. "I guess I have to do it myself."

"N-No! I insist you sit down! I can do it myself!" the dragon says.

"I refuse. I'm just going to put the clothes on right, so he doesn't look like a fool," I said.

The dragon-man turns his head and makes eye contact with me. His golden eyes sparkle from the excitement and happiness that's welling up inside him. He gives me a big, fat lick on the cheek. The scent of fish guts and sour milk overwhelms my senses.

"I think I'm going to throw up," I say and wobble towards a tree and wash up afterward.

I return and carefully remove the cloak and pants, and put them on properly.

"Rawr!" says the dragon man.

"Why exactly do you want me to take care of him?" I ask.

The dragon pauses and looks at the floor.

"I can't say this in front of him," it says. "I feel like this will greatly upset him."

"Just tell me. He seems too retarded to even understand what you're saying," I said.

"He actually could understand both the dragon language and the one you speak now really well," the dragon says.

The dragon-man tilts his head and wags his tail.

"But you're using telepathy to talk to me," I point out.

"That's because of the language barrier between us. He's a special case. This boy can do things that other creatures can't do," it says.

I create a wall of black flames that surrounds both of us. The flames rage as it consumes the grass below.

"No one will be able to hear us if we remain here, so spill it," I demand.

"Dragons are not immortal, so we die at some point. The point is I'm going to reach the limit of my life very soon, so I'm looking for someone who could take care of him once I leave this world," the dragon describes. "None of the other dragons are willing to raise him in my place because of how much he resembles a human."

"What do I gain by doing this?" I ask.

"He wields mysterious powers that no other has," the dragon says.

"Power isn't something that I'm looking for," I said.

"I'll give you as much money as you want," it says desperately. "Just please take care of Argus for me!"

"Okay, but on one condition," I say.

The dragon swallows its own saliva out of fear.

"W-What's this condition that you speak of," it asks.

"Send letters to him until you die," I propose.

The dragon sighs out of relief and says, "I thought you wanted me to do something insane like killing someone or something along those lines."

I lower the wall or flames around us. I turn around and start to head out.

"I'll take my leave now," I said. "Your name's Argus, right?"

The dragon-man shakes his head rapidly and follows me on all four out of the forest. The dragon waves and cries with a warm smile behind us.
