AU • PLANE CRASH W/ELEANORA

eyes open slowly, the pounding headache currently residing behind her skull making it hard for her to even do that. She feels something trickling down her head, something warm.

She slowly pushes herself up into a seated position, staring out straight across from her. It's eerily silent, the woods around her seeming to be forcing the animals to be quiet. She looks behind her, wincing as a flare of pain shoots up her side.

Behind her is wreckage from the plane that they were all just on, that everyone was sitting in and relaxing on. The plane that Eleanora was on however long ago, sitting beside her brother and helping him flip through printed out pages of multiple doctorate programs he was interested it.

She hears a small whimper of pain and her head snaps over towards it, her eyes widening even more as she saw her baby brother struggling to sit up. Eleanora pushes herself forward, scrambling to crawl over to Max.

Her hands fly to his face first, cupping his cheeks. "Max? Max, are you okay?"

Max blinks at her a few times before raising one of his hands in front of his mouth and spitting something out. Eleanora's wide, scared eyes look down in her brothers shaking palm to find red.

"Oh my god." She whispered, her eyes looking at his hand before going back to his face. "Oh my—?!"

Max's shaky eyes go down to where his sister was looking, a frown pulling on his lips. He pokes at it, a hiss of pain being pulled out of him when it jostles in his side.

"Th-that's not....not good."

Eleanora moves her head to inspect it, her eyes wide. "Okay, okay. It's not....not deep. We can deal with not deep. We just have to get to the main....main part of the plane and find the f-first aid kit. I'm not....I'm not fixing a big hole in your side without a first aid kit in the middle of the woods."

Both siblings suddenly hear yelling somewhere behind them. Eleanora turns her head to look at the direction of the noise, Max moving one of his hands to grip at her arm like a small child. After the yelling starts, the sound of something hard being hit against metal begins.

"S-sounds like..." Max starts, his voice rough. "S-sounds like everyone....ev-everyone else is okay."

Eleanora took a deep, relieved sigh, her mind finally getting out of its panicked, shocked state and moving to the idea of her husband.

"Okay, yes." She turned to her younger brother again, moving his head so he would focus on her instead of the noises. "Can you walk, Max? You can l-lean on me, but we have to get t-to everyone else. Okay?"

Max shakily nodded, moving his arms to hold onto his big sister. "O-okay."

Eleanora takes a deep breathe and preps herself, knowing that her entire body would protest at holding her own weight with the added weight of Max. She then pushes herself and her brother up, both of the Amedeo siblings letting out yelps of pain.

Max buried his head into her shoulder, and Eleanora can feel hot tears seep in the cloth and touch her shoulder. "Oh, God! I-it hurts, Ella!"

"I know." She soothes, standing there for a moment to let both of their bodies get used to the change in position. She ran her fingers through Max's hair for a moment, her eyes welling up with tears. "I know it does, Max. You just have to hold on until we can get to the first aid kit, okay?"

"Okay." He whimpered back. After a moment, they finally started to move again, both of them limping. Max's was worse, his left leg practically not moving on its own.

Eleanora gritted her teeth and fought through the pain as she let Max lean most of his weight on her. She took deep, short breaths through her nose, her body shaking a bit from the exertion.

"We g-gotta f-f-find L-Lexie and M-M-Mark." Max whispered to her, trying to look at her through the fuzziness in his vision. He had no idea where his glasses were.

"We will." Eleanora stated firmly, eyes determined as she followed the sounds. She knew that if Max wasn't here, if she were alone or anyone else were there with her, she'd be freaking out. But Eleanora had always had one job, one she was happy to take on and happy to carry.

Eleanora Alice Amedeo-Sloan would protect and care for Maxwell Amedeo, no matter what.

Though, she never really thought that she would have to do it after their plane crashed in the middle of the woods.

______

two siblings had to stop about halfway through their hike towards the sounds due to Max not being able to move for that long. Eleanora welcomed the reprieve, both of them sitting down under some shade.

Max was laying down beside his sister, his head in her lap. His breathing was uneven and shallow, and Eleanora felt panic eat away in her chest everytime she heard it.

Eleanora played with his hair, looking out across the small area they were in. Her own breathing was a little shaky, but she knew it was just from the pain across her body. Luckily, her head lac had stopped bleeding a bit ago, so blood wasn't falling into her eyes anymore.

"I-I-It...it hurts, Ella." Max wheezed out, looking up at his sister with teary eyes. Eleanora looked down, sniffling a bit.

"I know, Max." She whispered, sending him a weaker version of calming smile. "We'll just rest for a couple more minutes and then we'll keep going, okay?"

"O-o-o-okay." Max got out, sending her a smile. He gripped her free hand a bit tighter, sighing out. "L-l-Lexie is alive, I-I know it."

"Lexie's alive, Mark's alive, everybody is alive." Eleanora confirmed firmly, pushing some hair out of his face. "And that is how it's gonna stay."

______

and Max never got to say goodbye to Lexie.

Eleanora was panicked, scrambling to try and help her brother breathe again. His eyes were wide, face purple and it was obvious something was wrong on the inside.

The irony of the situation wasn't lost on Eleanora. Here she was, a surgeon, someone who was more than capable to fix someone from the inside. But also, here she was, a surgeon in the middle of the damn woods, no OR in sight, watching as her kid brother died in front of her from something she would normally be able to fix.
