Chapter 101

When Cara and Morris reached the top they saw Rit shouting incomprehensible words and sorting through his hut which had been destroyed completely.

"Rit, " Cara called as they both approached him slowly.

"What are you doing here?" Rit turned and asked them, his face red in anger.

"What happened?" she asked.

"I have no idea, one second I was in my hut sitting on my chair, sipping my tea, trying to not hear the ruckus from the festival down there, the next moment I was standing on the stairs two levels below, when I came back some rocks had falled on my hut from the mountain walls, " he growled.

"Aren't their ruins etched in the walls to prevent that from happening?" asked Morris.

"There are, it can only happen, if something was thrown at the walls, something really heavy to break the rocks, " he said.

They all looked up at the mountain walls, it was too dark but they could see something even darker in the darkness.

"Is that?" Cara wondered.

"Master!" Rit shouted suddenly and ran upstairs to the hall.

They followed after him. As Cara had suspected one of the black doors of the hall was missing and the other hanging on one hinge. Rit ran inside the hall, they followed.

It was still very dark inside, the blue flames were gone, the hall suddenly seemed much smaller and normal.

"No, he is gone! , " shouted Rit.

"Calm down Rit, " said Cara, worrying his cries might bring others here.

"You don't understand!" he shouted.

"I know! I know how to bring him back, he told me, " she shouted back, she had to say something to get his attention he was looking more and more panicked by the second.

"He told you! Oh that's why you are here, thank god, he chose someone finally, what do we have to do?" Rit suddenly changed tracks.

"We, you know about it?" she asked.

"Of course, I have been with master for decades, I was his most loyal servant, he was the only reason I was alive, all the other elders wanted nothing to do with me, some wanted me dead, but he took me in, gave me a place to stay, the others even hated him for it, he was the only one who treated my mother nicely, he even taught me, my own clan discarded me and mother but he helped me, " Rit said. His big eyes were wet and glossy and he sat down on the ground.

Cara and Morris looked at each other with wide eyes wondering what to do, they hadn't expected a big guy like Rit to act like this.

"It's going to be okay, Rit, we'll bring him back, he told me to ask you for help, " said Cara.

"Master did? Then those are his final orders for me, I will help you any way I can, " said Rit standing up.

"What are we doing?" he asked.

"Calm down, it will take time he said, first let the festival finish, " said Cara.

"At least tell me what we will have to do, so aisa can prepare, " said Rit.

"We will have to capture mythical beasts, " said Cara.

Rit looked sad suddenly.

"What are you talking about? Mythical beasts are myths, there aren't any alive anymore since the gods left us, " said Morris.

"You talk like an old man, no not even an elder talks about stuff that you do, whatever that's what Elder Shadow said, and what does the name matter, we have to capture very powerful magical beasts, " said Cara.

"I just read books that's it, " said Morris.

"I can't, " interjected Rit then.

"Why not? I mean I know it's going to be dangerous I won't force you but I thought," said Cara.

"No that's not it, we will have to leave the mountain for that, and I am not allowed outside, no elder will give me permission, Elder Shadow was the only one who stood up for me, with him gone I have no idea what they will do to me, " said Rit he had again gone to pieces.

Cara looked at Morris for help.

"Umm, I think you'll be fine, you said they wanted you out before anyways, " said Morris.

"That's before I learnt all their secrets, " said Rit.

"Well, I will talk to Elder Rian, he is very reasonable, I am sure we can work out something, " said Morris.

"Yeah, Elder Ryan and Elder Sarah, are good people, they sometimes came and talked to Elder Shadow too, I cooked for them then, they praises my food, " said Rit.

"All right, Rit you clean up here and try to repair the doors of the hall of you can, till then we will try to find out some clues of where to find these beasts and how to leave the mountain, and don't draw attention to yourself, there is no need to tell them ourselves that Elder Shadow is gone, " said Cara.

"Fine, I'll try and climb and bring that gate down, " said Rit, his voice hoarse, he slowly went straight to the mountain walls and started climbing.

They looked at each other alarmed and surprised when Rit easily climbed the wall even with his large size, he pulled the gate out with one hand, it was as thick as his body, but he held it by one hand and started climbing down.

"Uh I think he will be fine, " said Morris and they left the top level and hurried down.

"So this is what you were talking about, when did you and Elder Shadow got so close?" Morris asked.

"We have only talked twice, I guess he had no choice I was the only decent choice around," said Cara.

"Capturing a legendary beast, we will have to have atleast three jades with us, " said Morris.

"More but we can't ask any of the elders for help, " said Cara.

"And you think a copper and Rit will be able to do it alone?" he asked.

"Two coppers, or are you afraid?" she asked.

"I am not one to back out from an adventure, and the only reason I am agreeing is because I know we won't find one anyways, but I'll try my best, I will check Elder Ryan's books, I have special permission from him, I am sure we can find some hint from there, " he said.

"We forgot about one thing, it will be hard getting approval for Rit to get out of the mountain, but what about us, they won't let two copper leave too, " said Cara.

"They won't, but I think I have an idea about that it might just be a good first place to find more information, " said Morris.

"I think I know what you are talking about, and I think that might be a good idea too, " said Cara.

"Let's not worry about that for now, we should think about the festival for now, " said Morris.

"What's left to think about that for now?" asked Cara.

"There's the party isn't there, you guys were all pretty excited about it, " said Morris.

"That seems even more stupid now then ever, " said Cara.

"Yeah, but i think it might be of slight use, " said Morris.

"What? I didn't expect you to say that, what use could it possibly have, " Cara asked.

"Well think about it, this would be the first time, you would be meeting your actual counterparts from other mountains in an infromal setting, these are the potential elders and leaders of tomorrow, this is a great time to make links and connections, they might come in handy in our search too, " said Morris.

"Again you sound like an old man, you just amd watch, I think you don't know exactly what happens in these parties, " said Cara.

"But I guess I will have to come, Vivian will drag me anyways, let's see what happens, " said Cara.

"Have you seeen Roisin since?" asked Morris.

"No, I haven't, and I don't want to, I don't want to see Troy too, " said Cara.

"I know what you mean, I don't want to meet the coppers I defeated too, but it is kind of big what you did with Trou, you might want to be careful, " said Morris.

"From Troy? I thought you would be talking about Roisin, Troy just doesn't seem like that kind of guy, does he?" asked Cara.

"You stole his big moment, he had big hopes, you could see it in his face yesterday, he will definitely have some bad feelings, " said Morris.

"So, there are some people to avoid and some to meet, anything else Elder Morris, " Cara said bowing.

"Just keep listening to my advice and you will be an iron soon, " said Morris raising a hand.

They both laughed loudly after that.

"What are you two laughing about?" asked Vivian appearing out from the crowd, they had reached the bottom level.

"Yeah, probably laughing at all the coppers they defeated, I have to say I expected Cara to do good, not defeating Troy good, but even Morris was in the finalists, we have two celebrities in front of us, " said Flint bowing.

"Are you ready?" Vivian asked ignoring him.

"Are they starting already?" asked Cara.

"Yeah, the elders have started to leave, " said Vivian.

"Is it going to happen here?" asked Cara.

"No, it's too open, they will happen from level 45 to 49, the elders would be on level 15, well away from us, " said Vivian.

There were only 52 levels, which meant they would be close to Rit, and he would be again pissed off by all the noise.
