Remains of the past

"Listen well, there's no second time. You are to venture into the valley and find a person or a beacon that is overflowing with darkness." Anderson said as Henri unsheathed his shiny golden sword to attract gazes.

"You may have heard of a curse weakening this camp by now and I am counting on you to solve this matter. Let me introduce you to the one who'll lead you to your goal, major Oswald."

Many were disappointed, and most were surprised.

Henri was here too, and seeing who was to lead the troops, he decided to change the group's organization a little. Supposedly leading the group from point a to point b, it became just leading. The captain who was hired for the mission was used as another soldier. Since Oswald was only a major, it was set as a challenge to earn a new rank. It was also a test for his competences as a leader, there was no reason for Henri to not give him a chance despite the threatening words he heard as the major's self-criticism.
