Mission

Yang Ning listened attentively as he found it quite amusing seeing his Master's different facial expressions.

Sect Leader Qing then stopped, knowing he had gone off track, looked at this disciple with focus before commenting further.

"I need you to go to the state of Aegina. Our Sect's investigations lead us to hidden pocket dimension that may contain remnants or clues that will help our sect greatly".

Sect Leader Qing then handed his disciple a map of continent of dawn including 10 attacking talismans for protection.

"Although you've stayed in the Sect for 10 years, this could be considered your first mission. The mission is important, however, your life is more important to me. As you've never really stepped outside our Sect, take this time to get used to the surroundings"

"We are hopeful if you can obtain at least some small remnants of our heritage or even clues, but don't be too bothered if you come out empty handed. Our Sect is still strong even without the other half of our Mantra"

Looking briefly at the map and talismans his Master gave him, Yang Ning then looked to his master and asked

"How long do you expect me to complete this mission?".

"10 years to 20 years" replied Sect Leader Qing bluntly.

Yang Ning faced couldn't help but reveal a surprised expression.

"That long?" replied Yang Ning in a surprised voice

The Sect leader with his left arm outstretched showed 3 fingers towards his disciple

"The length of duration is for 3 reasons. Since I took you in as my disciple you have not left the sect since then. Technically you should have gone through sect missions when you reached the foundation realm but I held off on it. Although you have read the countless books that display our current society, experiencing first hand beats reading any book. Just treat this is a long vacation away from the sect"

"The second reason is as mentioned, to investigate the second half of our sects mantra. The State of Aegina is quite far hence it'll take you some time to get there"

The sect leader waited a moment then looked at his disciple seriously before saying

"The third reason is to investigate your blood line"

Yang Ning couldn't help but display a surprised expression.

"My blood line?" replied Yang Ning confusedly

"On the day you suddenly arrived in our sect agriculture fields, I had immediately sensed your arrival. Originally you were just a mortal with no cultivation whatsoever. Not even trace amounts of energy could be found"

"When Elder Zheng Liu took you to the sects prison rooms, I had secretly investigated you closer out of curiosity. By then you had fallen asleep. I went in and examined your bloodline but was suddenly met with a sudden backlash that injured me"

"To be honest, I tried investigating a few times but was met with the same backlash, before I ended up coughing blood. I did however manage to catch a glimpse on my last try before I stopped. A image of white creature appeared before I was rejected again".

"Throughout the 10 years you've been my disciple I have tried to investigate the different bloodlines across the continent, but my results have not borne any fruit as of yet"

"This is why the mission I'm assigning you will take about 10 to 20 years"

Yang Ning stood speechless wondering if his bloodline had go to do with the white light that devoured him before crossing over to this new world. He still decided to keep this secret as it was still not convenient to reveal about his experience lest it complicate things further. It was best for Yang Ning to investigate first before deciding to tell his Master.

After a few moment of pondering he replied solemnly

"I will take on the mission Master". Yang Ning then bowed towards his master.

"Now, now, disciple" Said sect leader Qing casually.

"No need to be too serious about it for now. As you've just entered the Nascent Soul realm you'll need to learn how to control your strength. Secondly, you'll need to prepare. 1 year should be enough before you leave the Sect.

"Although 1 year might sound long, take this time to analyze the map I gave you, and prepare the necessary items needed. As it'll be a long journey, take advantage of the sects resources and increase your strength as well"

After saying what he needed to say, Sect Leader Qing bid farewell to his disciple and left. Yang Ning looked towards the direction where he Master had left then turned towards the map his Master had given him. The map itself was quite detailed containing the lands that lay within the Dawn Continent.

"This will take some time" Whispered Yang Ning to himself. Yang Ning had begun to prepare for his mission.

In the meantime the new disciples had now settled in the Sect after it had been 1 week since their arrival. The disciples had now adjusted to their new home and began to cultivate the Sect's mantra. Cultivating techniques worked in two ways. In the Sect's cultivation hall, wherein lied multiple Opening realm techniques, the disciples would choose skills that were already perfected for them to use. Cultivation techniques that were created from others served as an inspiration for cultivators to create their own technique. Technically cultivators could use techniques that had already been perfected by others, but it could never be used perfectly, unlike a technique that was tailored for themselves. This is why Mantra's existed in every Sect. The Sky Sword Sects mantra contained the aspects of the sword in which cultivators who read it began to comprehend and philosophy sword techniques. The Mantra served as a foundation for the individual to create their own technique using their own understanding, philosophy and comprehension.

Once the cultivator has realized their 'path of the sword', they would be able to materialize the technique into reality by manipulating their energy into their form of understanding. This is why using techniques that were created from others would be weaker when not used by the creator. Technique that were created from other cultivators had different comprehension and philosophies and unless you were able to grasp the same comprehension and philosophy as the original creator, the technique could not be fully displayed even if you understood the content.
