In a few minutes, they pulled up in front of a quaint little cottage. Maya wheeled herself to the car in a flash and helped Adi out. The thin man stumbled, and without missing a step, Maya threw her arms around him in support. Adi let out a muffled sob.
Once Adi was deposited on the couch safely, Maya turned to Jags, who latched the door and drew the blinds.
"Explain," she said, crossing his arms. "Injuries first."
"I don't know," Jags replied helplessly. "He was tied up in a cable car, hooked to this...sort of electrocution machine..."
Adi laughed brokenly. Maya knelt by his side.
"Maya," Adi whispered. "My Maya." He closed his eyes. "I am sorry."
Maya cupped his cheek tenderly. "My miracle," she said reverently. "Look at me, Adi."
They stared at each other for a very long time.
Jags' phone chimed.
"Maya," Jags called quietly. "Bedroom, now. Cover him. And, whatever happens, do not leave him until Veer or I come to get you."
