Unregistered number

My phone vibrated again. It's a message from the same

person.

Unregistered number: Goodnight my dear, it's already

late. Go to sleep. You have classes tomorrow.

I only stared at his text message. Whoever this person is,

I can't seem to guess what he would do or respond in return.

I shouldn't be thinking about him at all. I shook my head.

I sat on top of my bed and was about to lay down when I felt my

phone again. When I checked what happened, my eyes

automatically squinted.

The same person transferred around a hundred dollars on

my account. What the hell is his deal?

I threw my phone onto my pillow and lay roughly on my

bed. I don't know what I should think of about that same person.

He said he liked me but I don't even have a clue as to who he

was.

I lifted my quilt and buried myself under. I should just

dismiss it and sleep.

Upon the day passing, the unregistered number stopped

messaging. James continuously tutored me throughout my math

subject and I might say I was improving. However, there were

times where we had to skip. I was not only his student after all

plus he's working.

As I flipped through my book, I noticed my teacher

approaching me.

"Emmie, I won't be able to teach you this afternoon," he

said to which I nodded. "I need to meet up with someone."

"Yes, sir no worries," I replied.

James is kind and patient. He knows I was struggling so

much with mathematics yet he was able to teach me

proficiently.

Math was not even his core subject yet he was excellent;

my adviser in the classroom and science teacher.

During lunch break, I went to the school cafeteria along

with Oddette. We ordered some food and took our tray towards

an empty table. Upon our arrival towards the area, I suddenly

heard James' voice coming from our back.

"Yes, around six, I'll be there. I love you," he whispered

to which I suddenly stopped. For some reason, I felt my heart

stung.

"Are you alright?" Oddette asked. I only gave her a faint

smile.

"Yes, I'm okay," I answered, staring at my food. After a

while, I took a spoonful of the meal and gently put it in my

mouth when I felt my phone vibrate again. I already knew who it

was.

Upon fishing out my phone from the inside of my

pocket, my forehead automatically creased.

"Are you alright? Are you not feeling well?" Those were

the words written on my phone.

I roamed around my gaze and even stared at James for a

second. "Was it coming from him?" I thought to myself

however, judging by how he was reacting, it didn't even look like

he was aware that I was here; staring at him.

Oddette and I went towards the washroom.

"If you're not feeling well, don't forget to take medicine.

Go ask your teacher to excuse you," he commanded.

I was about to respond to his text message when I

suddenly heard Oddette speak.

"Who are you texting with?" Oddette muttered. I shifted

my gaze to her, as I put my phone back inside my pocket.

"Oh, it's nothing. It's just a notification coming from

Facebook," I answered before washing my hands.

"Our quarter exams will be soon. Are you ready?"

Oddette asked after she applied face powder on her face.

"Yes, I think I will pass my math subject this time," I

replied.

After a while, the bell finally rang. It was a signal for us

to go back to our rooms and so we waited for our subject

teacher.

In the middle of the class, my eyes wandered towards

the window. I saw James exit the main gate and out of curiosity,

my eyes followed him.

It was not yet the end of class so I'm sure it was under

his time.

My mind escaped towards the northern region,

imagining and deluding myself. How I wished I was the person

he said 'I love you'.

Upon the class finishing, my thoughts still lingered from

earlier, afternoon. I couldn't help thinking how I missed his

presence and voice whenever he taught me after class.
