Chapter 9

For a moment, the devil seemed taken aback by Lily's words. But then he laughed, a cruel, mocking sound that sent shivers down Lily's spine.

"Love," he sneered and his face turned more pale. "Love is nothing but a human emotion. It means nothing to me."

But Lily refused to give up. "Love is the most powerful force in the universe." she said, her voice rising. "It can conquer anything even conquer the most dense person in this universe!, even you."

The devil looked at her with a mixture of rage and fascination. "You have courage, I'll give you that," he said. "But it's not enough. The deal stands. If you give the equivalent exchange I might change my mind"

Lily felt a surge of despair wash over her. She had hoped that they could reason with the devil, but it seemed that he was too powerful to be swayed.
