Chapter 1
As the sun rose over the small town of Millfield, Jane sat at her kitchen table, staring at the headlines of the local newspaper. "Local woman arrested for theft," the headline read, and beneath it was a picture of Jane's own face.
Jane couldn't believe it. She had always been an upstanding member of the community, and she had no idea how she had ended up being accused of a crime. She racked her brain, trying to think of any explanation for what had happened, but she came up empty.
Feeling hopeless and alone, Jane sat at her table, staring out the window as the day went by. She knew she needed to do something to clear her name, but she had no idea where to start.
