Chapter Forty-Two

#Chapter Forty-Two

"Kitty! I told you not to break into your father's office!" Kitty's mother bellowed as she walked into the office, her hands on her hips, face red with anger.

Kitty held the papers in her hand up for her mother to see. "What the fuck is this?"

"What's that?"

"You fucking twisted piece of shit!"

"How dare you speak to your mother like that!"

"I can't believe it! You're not my mother!"

"What? What are you holding in your hands?"

"These are written plans on how to help Dad seduce Melanie! So it was your idea!"

Her mother's expression devolved into horror. She shot forwards and snatched the papers from her to look over them in haste. "That bastard! I always knew he couldn't be trusted, I can't believe he kept this from me," she said and ran to the shredder to put the papers through them.

"This is wonderful!" Kitty said. "You helped Dad have sexual relations with a minor!"

"Shut up, Kitty."

"I always wondered why your first reaction to Dad getting arrested was anger when it should've been shock!"

"No one can know, do you hear me?"

"And why you refused to have me attend his trials! You were up on the stand, weren't you?"

Her mother stalked over to her and slapped her across the face. Kitty's cheek burned and she covered it in shock. "Don't tell anyone!"

"You should think twice about asking for a favour before slapping me!"

"No one can know," her mother begged her, both her hands clutched to each other. "Please, don't tell anyone. My life will be ruined!"

"You're thoroughly irredeemable," Kitty said as she shook her shoulders free of her mother's hands. She left the office and heard her mother walking after her.

"Kitty, stop there! Don't make me do something I regret!"

"I'm not your daughter, you don't get to tell me what to do," Kitty called behind her back and headed for the door.

"I don't want to do this!" her mother shouted and Kitty put her hands on the door handle and pushed it down.

The door opened to Gunner.
