The pink-haired girl couldn't contain her laughter, offering a sly grin. "Just looking out for you. Lex needs someone to keep him in check."

She rolled her eyes, but a subtle smile tugged at the corners of her lips. That's when she invited the two in. ''Come in, you two. Mama's has been baking.''

The trio settled onto the plush couches, taking in the homely ambiance. Ayla disappeared into the adjoining kitchen.
