CHAPTER 2: Eun Chen

(Eight years later, part of Gwengochan, the hiatus tribe) A woman was running, a five year old child with her, the woman immediately ran to a hut and his her child inside a closet, it was obvious that the woman was frightened, screams were heard, slashes and clashes of swords echoed in the small town, the woman tucked her child securely I'm the closet, "Ji yoo, don't come out of here okay, no matter what happens, whatever you hear, do not come out okay,..., I love you dear", said the woman, tears already streaming from her eyes, a clueless Ji yoo nodded, placing her small hand on her mum's hand, the woman chuckled softly, the screams and clasheswas coming nearer and nearer, the woman patted her daughters head softly, it was painful and she was reluctant to leave her child, but she summoned courage, she stood up and closed the door of the closet, immediately that happened, the door of the house flung open , two guards entered into the house at the back stood a man dressed in black cloak, the guards charged for the woman, the woman rubbed her hands together, raising her hand above each other, a ball of flame emerged as she threw it at the guards,which the guards dodged, the flame heading for the black cloaked man, the black cloaked man caught the flame in his hand, the woman eyes grew wide in shock, for all she knew Hiatus was the only tribe that did not return their powers to the phoenix stone , the man smirked, his eyes hidden from the woman, so you could not tell if he was from the Hiatus tribe.

There was a crunching sound as the fire slowly turned into ice , the man closed his hand and opened it, shattering it immediately, he swiveled his hand and directed the shattered pieces to the woman, the woman dodged them, immediately she wanted to fight back, but at that moment the guards stabbed her with the sword, plunging deep into her stomach, the gaping of flesh, it was so deep that the sword came out from her back, the woman gasped, she coughed splurging out blood, the guards mercilessly drew out his sword from her body,causing her to fall weakly to the floor, gasping for breath, the black cloaked man came to the woman, bending towards her, he placed the phoenix stone on her head, the spiral marks became white indicating that her powers are being transferred, he removed the stone from her head and instantly she was dead, the black hooded man turned to leave with the guards when all of a sudden he stopped at his tracks, he turned back looking at the scene, he quietly walked over to a cupboard as he heard muffled sobs, he gently opened the door, and saw a little girl inside, using her hands to cover her mouth, her sobs appeared muffled, tears continued flowing from her closed eyes, the man bent down looking at the child,Ji yoo slowly opened her eyes meeting the face of the man that just killed her mother, "everyone here is dead child, there is nothing left for you, you are the only one here", said the man bringing out his hand,"if you come with me, you won't have to hide ever again", said the man.Ji yoo looked at the hand of the man, she shouldn't go with this man be ause he is a bad person, but having the mentality of a child, it only felt okay to follow the man because at this point it was only her in this world, she took hold of the man's hand, the man gave her an eerie smile before he stood up with the girl, she closed her eyes so as to not see her mother's corpse, they finally came out from the door, the stench of blood and death swept the air,"open your eyes little one", said the man in a sinister and gentle voice, Ji yoo slowly opened her eyes, her view was filled with dead bodies , her pupils dimmed looking at the dead, most of them among were people she once knew,children of her age and younger, she looked up at the man, the man looked down at her," you don't close your eyes to death, get use to it, because your sight will mostly be if this sight, and the air you breathe will be of this stench", said the man as he and the child walked away ,while the guards went over to check for survivors

Twenty years later

A woman poured some tea into a plate and at the side placed some cinnamon biscuits, she settled it on a tray and gently carried it ,heading to the house , as the woman was going to the house, a maid was coming out of the house holding a tray of untouched food, the maid stopped in front of the woman bowing her head slightly, "Master didn't touch his food again", said the maid somehow frustrated, the woman sighed in frustration,"pk , I will give these to him", said the woman as she walked over to the house, reaching the door, she heaved again then she planted the biggest smile on her face before she yelled,"Master Lee, may I come in.....", yelled the woman, but there was no answer, the woman placed the tray of food on the floor, and flung the door open," insid you could tell could see shelvesof different kinds of books then a large board of hectic solution of maths problems, scribbled all over, tons of books on a table,the senior Cort lady knew exactly where the young master was, she walked up to the table piled up books and looked over, there he was, hi eyes as usual fixated on a book, she heaved, he didn't even notice her presence untill she slightly slapped him at the back of his head, that is when he realized that someone was in the room," hello are you back to reality now", said Maidservant park frustratingly, Lee Kwon gave a tight smile and aggressively closed the book.

"Maidservant park, how many times have I told all of you to not interrupt me when I am studying", said Lee Kwon,Maidservant park stepped forward and pulled him by the ear, making him to screech in pain, after which she let go, Lee Kwon rubbed his ear hard, it was red," ouch....that really hurt", said Kwon annoyed rubbing his ear more, " I just wanted to check if you are still alive, you had not come out from your room for the past three days", said Maidservant park.

Lee Kwon gave his ear a final rub,"I was just busy, I just.....", "busy with what exactly, learning a new language, finding an impossible maths question to solve, reading the history of Gwengochan again!..., said Maidservant park frustrated, Lee Kwon held his lips tight, one of them was what he was doing. Maidservant park sighed, walking over at the door side, she picked up his tray of food and placed it on the narrow empty side of the table, she picked up a cinnamon biscuit and stuffed it in his mouth," eat something at least, so that you can have strength", said Maidservant park as she was about to leave, then she remembered something, she turned and looked at Kwon, who was already stuffing his face with the cinnamon biscuits, he looked up at Maidservant park," I am already eating, so you can go", said Kwon, but Maidservant Park looked nervous, noticing the expression on her face, Kwon knew something was wrong,"what is it Maidservant Park", asked Kwon curiously,"Master....um..., the King has invited you for dinner at the palace ", said the court lady,Lee Kwon stopped eating and looked down , then stood up, "I'm not going", he said coldly. "The King said if you decline, he will head over to your house", said Maidservant park," and your Majesty, the Queen is attending this time",said Maidservant park. Kwon heaved looking over at his window, "does the Queen know about this arrangement",asked Kwon looking over at the window," no...,Master Kwon", said Maidservant park," then....., I am not coming, tell the King that I will not come, maybe we can eat at my place", said Kwon giving Maidservant Park a tight smile, "so you can leave now, I still have some work to finish", said Kwon tapping Maidservant park on the shoulder gently as he sat down and ate the biscuits while Maidservant park looked at him with eyes of pity.

A barren land, a windy dry land, there stood a couple of shoulders, in command was Min yu, the first son to the King and heir to the throne, at a distance stood a woman, dressed in a black linene cloth, her inner wear was that of black long sleeved cloth , a linen covered half her face and her hair was packed in a messy bun, her hand gripped tightly on the handle of her sword,Min yu smirked, " a woman fighting against some men, that is quite dangerous, but we heard you are a natural, killing more men than that of my men, introduce yourself", yelled Min yu

Eun Chen clenched her sword, hitting it on the sand beaten ground,"my name is Eun Chen, the masked assasin of the men of Gwengochan", said Eun Chen, Min yu licked the inner of his mouth, "a woman like you shouldn't dance on a battle field, why don't you come home with me, we will forget all the havoc you caused, and we will spare your life, if you become my wife", said Min yu, Eun Chen smirked under her linen covered face, bending her head down she raised it up, with a more serious and deadly expression,"you will be deathly surprised ", she said striking the sand beneath her feet, a wave of sand was raised and wanted to swallow up the rest of the party, Min yu swiped his hand upwards, a wave of water appeared conquering that of the pillar of sand, bringing it down, in the absence of that, Eun Chen charged towards the other party taking each one of them down easily with her sword, Min yu charged towards her and they both mangled up into a sword combat.

Eun Chen mostly blocked his attacks because he was more aggressive, she just needed to tire him out, that was always her strategy, but it looked like he wasn't just an ordinary competitor, Eun Chen finally conquered his sword pushing it out of the way during one of the defensive sessions and flung her sword at him, which he dodged, she swiveled her hand again, rings off sand appeared in front of her, she then bounded him with the sand rings, she panted slightly, but Min yu smirked, " I guess you are good eventhough you are a woman...", his face became serious," but I am tired if being merciful", he said, he moved his hand slightly but quickly, gathering the water energy from the atmosphere, the sweat and blood any source of liquid was useful , which he used to cut himself out of the sand rings, he threw something out of his hand and striked it hard with his sword, the object hit Eun Chen hard on the chest and with great force, she was pushed to the ground, like a huge boulder had been thrown on her, the spirals of the phoenix stone lightened up, Eun Chen felt her body become weaker, it felt like it was draining her, the phoenix stone was draining her powers, with the last bit of energy she had left, she used her hand to hit the earth surface hard, a wave of sand rose from the earth, the dust didn't allow the shoulders to see what was happening, and all that was heard was a huge boom, the dust finally settled soon after, they all ran forward to the scene, but all that was left was a heap of sand, a blood stained phoenix stone, a sword plunged to the earth which was stained with blood, and a black linen cloth which Eun Chen had used to mask her face

She freedherself by causing herself to bleed....., that means she knows about the existence of the phoenix stone ", he turned to his men," savage around the area, she must have not gone that far since she is quite injured", said Min yu in a commanding tone, all bowed their head and scampered to look for the female assasin, Min yu unplunged Eun Chen sword from the surface of the earth, and he looked at it," it was a red dragon sword, only the soilders and Royal's of Gwengochan made use if this...", said Min yu looking at the sword curiously,"we have a spy amongst us", he said.
