From behind me, I could feel the shock roll through Travis. It was clear that he didn't expect me to say those words and from the tension I could feel building within him, I knew that I was going to get jumped once we were alone.
I didn't know where that came from or why I actually didn't feel opposed to it at all anymore, but I would figure that out later. For now I needed to appease my parents.
"Are both of you telling the truth?" My father asked remaining unconvinced. "I don't want to hear spouted bullshit."
"Do you think I would joke about something like this?" I asked, my annoyance beginning to rise. "Me of all people."
"What about him?" My father asked, jutting his chin towards Travis. "Is he being serious?"
"Honey," my mother hissed, placing a hand on my father's arm. "Don't be rash. Of course, Travis is speaking the truth. Marissa is his mate, the only logical next step is fully completing their mate bond."
