Life at the Academy

Within the grounds of the Academy, two cadets were moving towards the lecture hall. One had a red wristband whereas the other had a yellow one.

"Are you excited, brother?" The cadet with the yellow wristband asked in a very joyous tone.

"Don't stress, Dron. You have just recovered." Aria answered as he smiled.

The other person was Dron who was just discharged from the Hospital yesterday.

Just like that the duo reached the lecture hall.

Since, the Academy for recruits was only upto Level-3, there were only two lecture halls; One and Two. Lecture hall One was for the fresh recruits whereas the other lecture hall was for the seniors.

Entering the hall, the duo observed the structure which was arranged in the shape of 'U' with the open part reserved for the lecturer. Counting the seats it could be presumed that there would be ten cadets within the lecture hall, indicating the declining strength of the Academy.

Including the presence of Aria and Dron there were additional six cadets already seated. Sensing their arrival, the gazes of these six landed on the duo. Among the six were three people who the duo had seen previously at the entrance of the First Pavilion.

'Why are those guys staring at me like that?'

Aria thought as he sensed some grievance in the way the three people looked, as for the rest there were two women among them; one with specs had sapphire pupils, the other had golden pupils. The last person was a man with pupils emitting a shade of emerald. He sensed that these three people looked at Dron beside him with disdain and supremacy, as for him there was surprise.

Aria had decided to not use the detection system frequently as it was too tiring for his mind.

"Let's sit over there, we can also save a seat for Jasmine." Aria said as he nudged Dron who had his head down all the time.

Dorn nodded but did not reply, for some reason he was keeping quiet but Aria did not mind, he thought maybe he was nervous. The duo took the seat at the right hand side of the 'U' with Dron at the front and Aria at the middle, the last seat was reserved for Jasmine. Beside Jasmine was the girl with the golden pupils.

Soon, Jasmine entered the lecture hall looking as beautiful as always. Her face immediately lit up as she saw Aria waving at her, gesturing towards the empty seat beside him. Taking the seat, she nodded towards the women beside her.

Just then, Maya, the last member of the class, entered. Her demeanor was still the same. Arrogance oozed out of her eyes as she thought of everyone beneath her. Subconsciously she looked at Jasmine and a smirk appeared on her face as she touched the red wristband on her hand.

Aria looked at Maya then at Jasmine's face as he too proceeded to run his arm with the red wristband on his hair, trying to copy the flaunting posture of Maya. Maya, being the woman she was, immediately noticed this and her face darkened. She was about to open her mouth when footsteps could be heard outside.

-Step-

An old man entered the lecture hall with a heavy book in one of his hands and the other hand behind.

-Thud-

The book landed on the desk with a loud thud that reverberated within the lecture hall. Now with both hands behind his back, his eyes scanned the new batch of recruits that he would guide. After a short nod, he turned towards the podium.

"Welcome cadets. In the Academy I go by the name Vidwan, but you shall refer to me as Teacher. That is all you need to know about me. Before we begin the lecture, I shall take a roll call and cross check your respective vocational subject." Standing on the podium, the voice of Vidwan reverberated within the lecture hall as he continued, "Caius; Maintenance."

The skinny man among the trio stood up as he greeted the Teacher by joining the palm of his hands and placing it on the chest.

"Dominic; Maintenance." The Teacher continued.

A muscular man with shoulder length long black hair stood up as he greeted in the same manner.

"Adron; Maintenance."

The fat man, who was seemingly the leader of the trio, stood up with his bulging belly as he greeted the Teacher.

"Dron; Medicine."

Dron stood up as he nervously greeted the Teacher who smiled in return seemingly trying to cheer him.

"Judas; Aviation."

With a smile on his face the man with the emerald pupils stood and greeted the Teacher.

"Lyris; Theoretical Science."

Gently, the woman with the golden pupils greeted the Teacher as she stood up.

"Delia; Developmental Science."

In a similar manner she greeted, pushing her glasses that shined her sapphire pupils.

"Jasmine; Developmental Science."

Jasmine stood up as she greeted feeling a bit proud.

"Maya; Aviation. Hmm, the Monarch allowed you to pursue this? Interesting."

Maya stood up as she greeted and her eyes gazed at everyone with her smirking face, seemingly feeling proud that the Teacher spoke a bit more about her.

"Aria; Science. I see, this young man wishes to pursue the source, good."

Lastly Aria stood up but unlike the other cadets he did not greet the Teacher, instead he nodded towards Vidwan. Everyone looked at him with surprise. The three with colored pupils even twisted their lips as for them it was a sign of disrespect.

Maya looked at Aria as she gloated in joy as she thought.

'Heh, this fellow again. Even my father warned me to treat the Teacher with respect. I bet Teacher will deal with him.'

But sadly for her, the Teacher smiled in return and nodded.

"Okay, that's everyone. Now get seated. Since this is your first lecture, we shall begin with the foundations. I know you must have received prior education regarding it but the foundations cannot be stressed more."

As Teacher said so, he tapped his foot lightly and the lecture hall darkened with curtains covering the windows and lights getting switched off.
