The Ring Bearer System

Written by Rowben. A young man has been working as a vigilante for the past year, though it seems nobody appreciates his help, and it’s all became too much weight on his shoulders. Just as he decides to quit, he’s brought into something else entirely. Nico Ryoto learns that the world’s more then he thought, a world full of suffering, where power often goes into the wrong hands. Discovering special rings that control the concepts of reality, and the horrible things wearers have done with such, Nico searches to find every ring to refrain from those with tainted hearts from using them.

“Mystery Man”

Nico stared up to his brother, Ratio Ryoto. After the killing game they practically split up, all the survivors spending their time coping.

"Ratio?? What the hell are you doing here?"

Nico seemed surprised as he picked up his can of coffee, cracking it open and taking a sip, Ratio placing his hands in his pockets.

"Well, I've just been hanging around. I know you live in some big mansion, so why are you down here in the slums?"

Nico looked around before leading Ratio outside the gas station, hiding behind the back of it.

"Alright so, you can't tell anyone this, but I'm in an organization that stops threats through the city.. We're looking for the cause of all the disappearing people around here."

Nico spoke quietly, Ratio nodding to all the information as he crossed his arms. Ratio was a big guy, even taller then Nico as he stood at 6 '6, his body gone through vigorous army training, as like Nico he also had a robotic body part, though much different from Nico, a robotic mask on his face resembling an oni.

"Well damn.. I can probably help you find out, I'm skilled at finding people."

Nico nodded in agreement, signaling for Ratio to follow him as he ran out through the streets, making his way to the apartment building where one of the disappearances too place.

"This is technically a crime but. It's for the greater good, or something like that."

Nico and Ratio walked up the stairs, making their way to the correct apartment, before Nico kicked the door open. The two quickly entered the building with caution, their hands both held to their holstered weapons.

The eye of Ratio's mask glowed red, and extended as he scanned the area. The two walked towards the bedroom, as without warning Nico kicked it down, The bedroom lacked life, it consisted of an old rackety bed, and a tiny tv with an older console connected to it.

They looked around the room, though there were no evidence of a kidnapping in sight, as if nobody ever lived there in the first place.

"Strange, huh.."

Ratio muttered. Nico got a call as he took out his phone, placing it to his ear. It was The Leader calling with information.

"Everyone hasn't found a single clue to the disappearances, either the kidnapper was insanely skilled in leaving no evidence, or the disappearances are from a supernatural source.. We're more confident on the latter, come back to headquarters ASAP."

The Leader hung up the phone as Nico placed it back in his pocket, facing Ratio before giving a firm handshake.

"I gotta go right now, maybe we'll meet up tomorrow, I can probably even introduce you to my team."

Ratio nodded, chuckling as he shook his hand back, before waving off, continuing to search around.

"I'll try to find anything I can."

Nico nodded as Ratio patted him on the back before he left. Nico walked back the headquarters, an unknown subtle beeping sound heard, though he didn't think much of it.

Nico returned to headquarters, entering as Mari awaited on the other side of the doors, gripping his arm tightly as she dragged him to the control room.

"You take too long..!"

She said sternly, the rest of the team waiting in the control room with serious expressions, Ncio and Mari walking next to the roundtable they surrounded.

"We've found a disturbance in energy around the areas the people went missing in, as well as camera footage of people seemingly reacting to things that aren't there."

Mari clicked on a remote as a screen came down from the ceiling, displaying the footage, people acting scared and looking up as if a monster was amongst them, though nothing was truly there.

"Wait.. I think I did something like that. I kept seeing things in the corner of my eyes.. and there was this woman, I saw her head suddenly fall off but when I took a second look she was gone."

Mari nodded, crossing her arms before clicking the remote again, showing the comparison of the energy scanned near the disappearances, as well as the energy scanned from The Leader's vibrations.

"We're to believe this is the cause of a ring, though this increases the threat, as we can't identify which ring it is, it also makes finding them much easier."

The group nodded, as they beeping Nico heard before returned, everyone realizing it, staring at Nico in confusion,

"Nico what the hell is that noise?"

Royce questioned, before Lite came up to Nico and walked behind him, pulling off a flashing red device on his back, before quickly crushing it.

"It's a tracker.. This might be from whoever has the ring.. Spread out and search th-"

A sudden crash was heard, followed by screams as people were running away through the headquarters. A giant worm-like creature crashed through the building's ceiling, Mari quickly scanning it.

"This must be from the ring! It's just an illusion, ignore it and look for the perpetrator!"

The group nodded, though it was hard to ignore how realistic it seemed, the warm coming down at them, though as Mari predicted it phased right through them.

Royce sensed something approaching as he suddenly stood in the way of the group, blocking the shot of a gun with his hand, leaving smoke in his palm.

"Over there..!"

Royce dashed to where the gunshot came from, smoke rising around them as once he entered the smoke, a quick whack was heard before a thud. The smoke cleared around Royce as he was knocked out. The group became more cautious as they took out their weapons and abilities.

Mari continued scanning around, before sensing the heat of a person through the smoke, calling them out as Lite quickly rolled forth, firing her rifle to the area.

She continued firing as The Leader stepped forth as well, his ring glowing a bright yellow before he shot out powerful vibrational waves.

"Tricked you."

A voice was heard, sounding deep and robotic as a cloaked man suddenly appeared out of the smoke, kicking Lite in the back of the head, before taking out a pistol and firing a shout towards The Leader.

The Leader easily blocked the bullet with his vibrations, before redirecting it towards the cloaked man, though the bullet went right through him, an illusion had replaced him.

The remaining of the group continued looking around, illusions appearing all around as the smoke closened in, the hue of the area changing to a redder tone, as once the smoke settled, the illusion formed a different area entirely.

"Here you'll end."
