The Forbidden Path of Black Magic

"Now, pay attention, Lady Karasi," Ms. Ally began, her voice sharp and authoritative.

Karasi was sitting at a large wooden desk, her eyes fixed intently on the woman standing before her. Ms. Ally, the renowned magician, and her newly appointed teacher, paced back and forth with a stern expression etched upon her face.

"Magic is not a game. It is a powerful force that must be wielded with care and precision. Today, we will start with the basics," Ms. Ally continued, her tone brusque.

"I want you to focus your energy and channel it into this spell."

With a flick of her wrist, Ms. Ally conjured a shimmering orb of light, casting a soft glow around the room. Karasi watched in awe as the magic unfolded before her eyes.

"Now, you try," Ms. Ally instructed, her gaze piercing.

She took a deep breath, her hands trembling slightly as she concentrated on the task at hand. With a hesitant gesture, she attempted to replicate the spell, but her efforts fell short, the magic fizzling out before it could take shape.

Ms. Ally's expression grew even more severe as she watched Karasi's struggle. "You must focus, Lady Karasi," she admonished, her voice sharp. "Magic requires discipline and dedication. Without it, you will never succeed."

Karasi swallowed hard, she then closed her eyes and concentrated as she tried to channel her energy.

"Focus your energy, Lady Karasi," Ms. Ally's voice cut through the silence as Karasi pictured a reservoir of energy coiled within her, waiting to be unleashed.

As she concentrated, a faint glow began to emanate from her fingertips, a flickering spark of magic dancing on the edge of her consciousness. It pulsed with a rhythm all its own, responding to the cadence of her heartbeat and the flow of her thoughts.

With a steady hand, Karasi reached out, extending her fingertips toward the empty space before her. She could feel the energy coursing through her, a living, breathing entity that begged to be set free.

And then, with a whispered incantation, she released it, channeling her intent and willpower into a single focused point. The air around her crackled with anticipation as the energy coalesced, taking shape in the form of a shimmering orb of light.

Karasi's eyes snapped open, her gaze fixed on the radiant glow that hovered before her. It danced and swirled with an ethereal beauty, casting patterns of light and shadow across the room.

Ms. Ally's expression softened, a rare glimmer of admiration in her eyes as she witnessed Karasi's success.

"Not bad," she conceded, a hint of grudging approval in her voice.

"Now, let's move on to something a bit more challenging." She watched intently as Ms. Ally retrieved a pot of water and set it down on the table before them.

"Now, I want you to try controlling the water," Ms. Ally instructed her tone calm and composed.

She took a deep breath, her mind racing with anticipation. She focused her energy on the pot of water, visualizing it bending to her will.

With a determined expression, she extended her hand toward the pot, her fingertips tingling with the power of magic. Concentrating with all her might, she willed the water to rise from the pot and hover in the air before her.

To her surprise, the water responded almost immediately, obeying her command with fluid grace. A small sphere of water formed in the air, swirling and dancing with an otherworldly beauty.

Ms. Ally's eyebrows shot up in astonishment at her skill. She had expected a novice to struggle with such an advanced spell, but the young girl seemed to possess a natural talent for magic that was truly remarkable.

"Very impressive, Lady Karasi," Ms. Ally remarked, her voice carefully neutral despite her inner surprise.

The lesson continued, Ms. Ally decided to test Karasi's abilities further. Placing a leaf delicately on the surface of the water pot, she challenged Karasi to control the water and remove the leaf without disturbing its delicate balance.

Karasi concentrated, her focus unwavering as she extended her hand toward the pot. With a flick of her wrist, she commanded the water to obey her will. To the amazement of both her and Ms. Ally, the water responded effortlessly, gently lifting the leaf out of its depths and depositing it onto the table with precision.

Ms. Ally's eyes glinted with a mixture of surprise and curiosity. She had not expected Karasi to master the spell so quickly, let alone with such finesse.

Encouraged by Karasi's success, Ms. Ally decided to push her even further. Retrieving a small rock from her table, she approached her with a mischievous glint in her eyes.

"Now, let's see if you can control something a bit more... challenging," Ms. Ally challenged, holding out the rock for Karasi to see.

Karasi's brow furrowed in concentration as she regarded the rock, fully aware of the difficulty that lay ahead.

With a deep breath, she focused all her energy on the rock, willing it to obey her command. To her own astonishment, and to the delight of Ms. Ally, the rock lifted from Ms. Ally's hand and hovered in the air before her, as if suspended by an invisible force.

Ms. Ally's eyes widened in amazement as she watched her feat of magic. She couldn't help but be impressed by the young girl's raw talent and innate skill.

"You continue to surpass my expectations." she exclaimed, breaking into applause.

"With your amazing talent, it would be a breeze for you to learn black magic." she remarked with a hint of jest.

"What is Black magic?" Karasi sought out. She had never heard of such a thing and looked to Ms. Ally for an explanation.

"It's a forbidden form of magic. It grants immense power, but at a grave cost." Ms. Ally stated as she gestured for Karasi to sit down.

"Using black magic comes with consequences. It can consume your soul, leaving you nothing but a shell of your former self." she continued.

Karasi's curiosity burned brightly as she leaned forward, her eyes fixed on Ms. Ally with eager anticipation.

"Do you know how to use black magic?" she asked, her voice barely containing her excitement.

Ms. Ally paused in her task, her expression growing serious as she rested her chin in her hand.

"Yes, Lady Karasi, I am familiar with black magic," she admitted.

"So, do you use it?" she interjected eagerly, unable to contain her curiosity.

"No, I do not," she replied firmly as she shook her head.

"While I possess knowledge of black magic, I have chosen not to dabble in its dark arts."

"Oh," she murmured, her excitement faltered slightly at Ms. Ally's response, disappointment flickering across her features.

"Black magic comes with great risk and consequence," she continued.

"It is a path fraught with danger, one that can lead to the destruction of both body and soul."

Karasi nodded in understanding, absorbing Ms. Ally's words with solemn reverence.

"But you said you know someone who uses black magic," she pressed, her curiosity reignited.

"Who is this person, and where are they now?"

Ms. Ally's expression grew somber at Karasi's question, and for a moment, she remained silent, her thoughts distant.

"I knew someone once," she finally replied.

"But their fate remains unknown to me. They vanished into the darkness they sought to control, consumed by their own ambition."

"Do you know them?" she pressed, her voice tinged with curiosity.

"Are you close to them?"

Ms. Ally's expression remained impassive, her silence speaking volumes as she avoided Karasi's probing gaze. The room fell into an uncomfortable silence, the weight of unsaid words hanging in the air.

Before she could inquire further, there was a sudden knock at the door, disrupting the tense atmosphere. Karasi's personal servant appeared.

"Apologies for the interruption, but it's now time for Lady Karasi's morning meal." she announced.

Karasi rose from her seat with a sigh, bidding her magic teacher farewell.

"Goodbye, Ms. Ally," she said softly, sensing the distance between them.

Ms. Ally nodded curtly in response, her stoic demeanor unwavering as Karasi left the room. Alone once more, Ms. Ally remained lost in her thoughts, the secrets of her past weighing heavily on her mind.
