Forged in Battle

The next morning dawned bright and clear, the forest alive with the sound of birdsong. But instead of the quiet tranquility of the previous day, the air was filled with the sharp clang of metal on metal.

Lia and Leo, their swords flashing in the morning light, were locked in a fierce sparring match.

Ayira and Lucius, watched in awe as the two seasoned warriors danced across the forest floor, their movements fluid and graceful.

Lia's sword whistled through the air as she deftly parried Leo's attacks, her eyes focused and determined. Leo, matched her blow for blow, his sword a blur of steel as he pressed his advantage.

"Watch carefully" Yuno stated.

The two eyes were wide with wonder as they watched the display of skill and agility before them. They had never seen anything like it before, and they couldn't tear their gaze away from the mesmerizing spectacle unfolding before them.

Lia wasted no time in launching a fierce attack, her sword flashing through the air with deadly precision. But Leo was no stranger to battle, and he met her blow for blow, his movements graceful and agile. He ducked and weaved, his sword darting in and out with lightning speed, always just out of Lia's reach.

Lucius, watching from the sidelines, couldn't help but marvel at Leo's skill. His movements were so fluid, so unpredictable, that it was like watching a dance unfold before his eyes.

It reminded him of his friend Zagan who uses cunning tricks and deceptive tactics.

As Lia pressed her attack, Leo began to employ his trademark cunning, using every trick in his arsenal to gain the upper hand. He feinted and parried, leading Lia on a merry chase through the forest, always staying one step ahead of her.

But Lia was no ordinary opponent, and she soon began to anticipate Leo's moves, countering his every trick with skill and precision of her own. The two warriors clashed and sparred, their swords ringing out like a symphony of steel in the quiet forest.

As the duel reached its climax, Lia and Leo fought with a ferocity and intensity that left Lucius breathless.

"This reminds me of Zagan and Adira." Ayira muttered, and Lucius nodded. The two had the same perspective of the duel they were watching.

It was a battle of strength against cunning.

"Are they your friends?" Yuno sought out as the duel ended.

It was Lia who emerged victorious, her sword held high in triumph as Leo conceded defeat with a gracious bow.

They sheathed their swords and turned to face the three who were conversing.

"Looks like they're busy talking to Yuno," she murmured.

"I wonder what they're discussing," he replied.

As they drew closer, they could hear snatches of conversation drifting towards them. The three figures were speaking animatedly, their voices filled with excitement.

"Sir Leo reminds me of Zagan; they are both devious, and Miss Lia reminds me of Adira, who is also our friend. She was strong, and she was the reason I appreciated Swordman so much. She was incredibly cool!" Ayira explains.

"Yeah, she's very cool. I was amazed the first time I watched them fight." Lucius added.

"I recall that. Lucius follows Adira because he wants to learn swordsmanship. Priest Damayanti won't let him, so he is pestering Adira."

"No, I am not."

"You are"

Sensing the impending conflict, Leo wasted no time in stepping between them, his expression stern.

"That's enough," he said firmly, his voice cutting through the tension like a blade.

"There's no need for this."

The two looked at him in surprise, their anger momentarily forgotten in the face of Leo's commanding presence.

"But sir she started it," Lucius protested, gesturing towards Ayira.

Leo shook his head, his gaze unwavering.

"It doesn't matter who started it," he replied evenly.

"What matters is that it stops. Now."

The two exchanged a hesitant glance, realizing that Leo was right.

Leo held their gaze for a long moment before speaking again, his voice softer this time.

"From today onwards, you both will start your training under me," he said, his tone leaving no room for argument.

"Right now."

"Right now?" Ayira repeated, her eyes wide with excitement.

Leo nodded, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his lips.

"Now," he replied.

As the excitement of the moment settled in, Leo wasted no time in taking charge. With a commanding gesture, he ordered Lucius and Ayira to their feet, his voice firm but encouraging.

"Stand up, both of you," he said.

"It's time to begin."

Lucius and Ayira eagerly complied, jumping to their feet with a newfound sense of purpose. They could hardly contain their excitement as they awaited Leo's next instruction, their hearts pounding with anticipation.

But Lia, ever the voice of reason, couldn't help but feel a twinge of concern as she watched Leo's confident demeanor.

"Are you sure you want to start teaching them today?" she asked quietly, her brow furrowing with worry.

"They seem so eager, but..."

Leo met her gaze with a reassuring smile, his confidence unwavering.

"They want this, Lia," he replied firmly.

"And I'm not one to turn down a challenge. Besides, it's never too early to start learning."

Leo turned his attention back to Lucius and Ayira, a determined glint in his eyes.

"Now, it's time for you two to spar," he announced, his voice confident and unwavering.

Lucius and Ayira exchanged a confused glance, their brows furrowed in uncertainty.

"But we thought you were going to teach us," Lucius said, his voice tinged with confusion.

Leo nodded, a knowing smile playing at the corners of his lips.

"And I will," he replied.

"But first, I want to see what you're capable of. I need to know where your strengths and weaknesses lie so I can help you improve."

Ayira glanced at Lucius, her expression doubtful.

"But... how can you see what we're doing?" she asked hesitantly, her voice filled with uncertainty.

"...You're blind."

Leo chuckled at her question, his laughter warm and genuine.

"Yes, I may be blind," he admitted,

"but my other senses are quite sharp. I can hear the rustle of leaves, the swish of a blade through the air, the subtle shift of your weight as you move."

Ayira's eyes widened in shock at his words.

"So... you can see us, even though you can't see," she murmured, her voice filled with wonder.

Leo nodded, his smile widening.

"Not exactly see," he replied,

"but I can sense your movements just as well as if I could. It's all about instinct, about knowing how to read the world around you."

Ayira stared at him in awe, a newfound respect dawning in her eyes.

"So... you're like a warrior monk, with heightened senses and intuition," she mused, her voice tinged with admiration.

Leo laughed at her comparison, the sound echoing through the forest.

"Something like that," he replied, his tone light and playful.

"But I'm no monk. Just a humble warrior with a few tricks up his sleeve."

With that, he gestured for Lucius and Ayira to begin their spar, his eyes closed but his senses keenly attuned to their every move. And as they circled each other, their swords flashed in the dappled light.

Leo watched intently as Lucius and Ayira began their spar, his senses attuned to every movement and sound around him. As they clashed, he couldn't help but notice the potential within them, despite their current shortcomings.

Lucius moved with a fluidity that spoke of natural agility, his movements quick and nimble. Yet, there was a hesitance in his strikes, as if he doubted his own abilities.

Leo made a mental note to help him tap into his confidence and fully utilize his agility.

On the other hand, Ayira's strength was evident in every swing of her sword, her blows were powerful and determined. However, her stance was off, her force scattered and unfocused.

Leo knew that with the right guidance, she could become a formidable warrior.

As the spar continued, Leo decided to intervene, gesturing for them to pause.

"Lucius, your agility is impressive, but you need to trust in yourself more. Don't hold back," he advised, his voice firm but encouraging.

Lucius nodded, determination flashing in his eyes.

"I'll do better, sir," he replied, his voice tinged with determination.

Turning to Ayira, Leo offered his guidance.

"And Ayira, your strength is undeniable, but you need to focus your force. Keep your stance firm and steady," he instructed, his tone gentle yet authoritative.

Ayira listened attentively, her expression determined.

"I understand, sir. I'll work on it," she promised, her voice filled with resolve.

Lucius and Ayira resumed their spar, putting Leo's advice into practice. With each clash of their swords, they grew more confident, their movements becoming smoother and more controlled.

As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the forest, Leo watched with pride as Lucius and Ayira improved before him.

They may have started rough around the edges, but with his guidance and determination, they would become unstoppable warriors.

As Lucius and Ayira continued their spar under Leo. Lia sat nearby, her gaze fixed on the two young warriors with a mixture of pride and sadness. As she watched Ayira's strength and determination shine through, a tear trickled down her cheek, unnoticed by anyone except Yuno, who sat beside her.

Sensing Lia's distress, Yuno gently placed a hand on her shoulder, offering her silent comfort.

"Are you okay?" he asked softly, his voice filled with concern.

Lia took a deep breath, trying to compose herself before she spoke.

"It's just... seeing Ayira like this, it's hard not to feel emotional."

Yuno nodded understandingly, his gaze filled with empathy.

"It feels like just yesterday she was this little, and now she's all grown up, with her own opinions and dreams," she added while Yuno sat and listened to her quietly.

As she spoke, Lia gestured towards Ayira and Lucius, who were locked in combat nearby.

"Look at her," she continued, her voice trembling with emotion.

"She's so strong and confident now. It's amazing to see, but... it also makes me sad that I missed so much of her growing up."

As the two friendly duels drew to a close, their movements grew sluggish and their breaths came in ragged gasps.

Sensing their exhaustion, Yuno gestured discreetly to Lia, silently urging her to wipe away her tears before the two noticed.

Lia nodded in understanding, quickly wiping her tears away with the back of her hand as she tried to compose herself. She didn't want Lucius and Ayira to see her crying; after all, it was meant to be a joyful moment celebrating their progress.

Just then, Leo approached with a knowing smile, flanking Lucius and Ayira who looked worn down but satisfied.

Yuno greeted Leo with a smile and a nod, his eyes flickering with amusement.

"So, who won?" Yuno asked, curiosity coloring his voice.

Ayira grinned triumphantly.

"I did, of course!" she exclaimed, her chest puffing out with pride.

But Lucius shook his head, his expression determined.

"No way, I definitely won," he protested, his voice laced with playful competitiveness.

Yuno chuckled at their banter, amused by their spirited rivalry.

Leo interjected with a wise smile.

"Actually, no one won," Leo stated firmly, his tone gentle but firm.

"Today wasn't about winning or losing. It was about learning and growing together as warriors. And in that sense, you both succeeded."

Lia stood up with a smile, her eyes still shimmering with unshed tears. She faced Lucius and Ayira, her voice gentle but firm.

"Well, it looks like it's time for us to head back," Lia said, her smile reaching her eyes despite the sadness lingering within them.

"We need to eat lunch before we head out on our next adventure."

Ayira's eyes lit up at the mention of food, her stomach rumbling in agreement.

"I'm starving!" she exclaimed, her excitement palpable.

Lucius grinned, his exhaustion momentarily forgotten in the face of Ayira's enthusiasm.

"Yeah, let's go eat," he said, his voice eager.

With that, the group gathered their belongings and began to make their way back through the forest. As they walked, the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting a warm golden glow over the treetops.
