The Rebirth of the Purple Phoenix

In a world ravaged by chaos and loneliness, John's life lacked purpose and meaning. The constant protests outside his apartment mirrored the turmoil within him, their noise a haunting reminder of the unrest he couldn't escape. Lost in unemployment and isolation, John sought refuge in virtual realms, where he could momentarily escape reality. Yet, his existence felt empty, like an abandoned canvas waiting for a painter's touch. With each passing day, he robotically navigated life, seeking something more. In an unexpected twist of events, a sudden explosion shattered his life, leaving him floating in a mysterious void. As panic threatened to consume him, an otherworldly voice offered him an enigmatic opportunity—to rewrite his destiny, to embrace a higher purpose. With unwavering determination, John accepted the offer, and a blinding light transported him to a new reality. His consciousness had returned, but his senses felt foreign, devoid of sight. Instead, he sensed momentous events unfolding—a significant figure being born, destined to become the emperor of a crumbling empire. John VIII Palaiologos, a historical figure tasked with confronting the mighty Ottoman Empire, was now the role he inhabited. As he grappled with his newfound identity and the weight of his responsibilities, he realized that his journey had just begun. The fate of an empire rested on his shoulders, and he was determined to shape history in a way that would bring hope and transformation to his world. --------------------------------------------- [Author Note:] Updates: 3-4 chapters/week *Miss me? Just Some Info

Regarding the status of the current novel, I am currently unable to update as of yet, as I'm currently occupied with, well, living. I began writing this webnovel as a time-wasting mechanism while awaiting for employment, but eventually, by your guys support, it kept going. It was a fun journey as I was able to explore, as well as research the complexities of the Late Middle Ages especially from Eastern Roman Empire POV. As I kept on writing chapters after chapters though, I finally hit a wall, like many writers, a 'writer's block'. It struck to me that no matter what I wrote, it doesn't felt good enough, over the last few weeks before I 'quit', I contemplated numerous times over whether to continue the series, or 'side-stepping'. I do want to continue writing, don't get me wrong; but producing new ideas is hard, especially since this was my first time doing this daring undertaking.

There were times when I reread the chapters that I wrote, and I cringed hard because of how cheesy it was to read the things I've wrote. Then, over time, I decided to edit and edit the chapters, until at one point, I forgot to update new chapters. Still, it wasn't enough even after editing... well, it was reasonable, I'm alone without an editor to give me feedbacks... so, I look up to you guys for feedbacks... I don't care how harsh it was because at the end of the day, criticism is a building block for creativity... Unfortunately though, not many were criticism and mostly positives, don't get me wrong, it was not like I seek criticism; genuinely, I felt lacking. Nonetheless, reading compliments give me hope... At the very least the story were good enough, I hope...

Then again, I trust that many of you don't want to listen to my excuses :D...

Now then, what do you want to hear first? 'Will the series continue' or 'Is this the end?'

Well, fellow Romanoi! Good news is, the series WILL continue; it is just that I don't have the time yet(or find time, or simply contemplating). It was not until recently that I have this thought of continuing the series despite 'busy with life'. Don't get me wrong, I still wrote drafts, but suddenly publishing it without properly giving my all seems disingenuous to the readers... I'm planning to slowly build up the drafts so that it would satisfy you lot - that was my hope.

So, when?

Undecided...

I have to give it some more thoughts... And, more than likely, I would begin by editing all the published chapters thus far... it was, afterall, one of the reason for my 'hiatus'(cringing hard on my own literary stuff)... But, I will keep on writing drafts along with it.

That is all for now, thank you! Sorry for disappointing you all these time. I always felt guilty opening the app because of you guys... have mercy on me! cheers! Viva Romanum!
