Chapter 3

POV - Judas

Holding on tight to my seat I realize that a man who spends most of his time in the vatican and almost never leaves is naturally a bad driver.

"Your mother can be a real nagging uh… nancy when she's trying to be helpful" My uncle said trying to strike up a conversation. "But she means well."

I remain silent. I know I should say something, but my whole world view is kind of in the process of shattering so I think God will forgive me for not being polite right now.

I can feel his eyes on me so I turn to look at him. I see that he is not looking at me but rather my clothes.

He sees me looking at him and says. "You should've dressed casual and not all fancy like that. This lunatic is going to think you're a Men In Black."

"Like the movies." I ask in genuine confusion.

"No, but those definitely didn't help his paranoia." He sighs. "I really hope he's not a bastard about this."

We both fall silent for the rest of the drive.

As we pull up to the house I can't help but notice that it looks…

"It's a bit too normal to be in a wizard's house don't you think." My uncle speaks up before I can finish my thought. "That's why he lives here. To throw off any one who might be after him."

I really don't understand this magic stuff. I really hope this so-called wizard isn't just insane.

Following my uncle to the front door I could've sworn I saw someone peeking at us from behind a curtain. He seemed to not think the curtain was enough and was holding a lamp in front of himself to stay hidden.

Looking towards my uncle I can tell he noticed the curtain move, but he made no sign of noticing the man with the lamp.

My uncle knocks twice like a normal person would but after no answer he starts pounding on the door.

"SALAS, OPEN THIS DOOR RIGHT NOW."

The door swings open as if by the force of my uncle's hand, and we step inside.

Looking around I can't help but notice that the house looks clean like it's fixed up every day.

Hearing the door shut we look behind us and I see the man holding a lamp again as if hiding behind it giving me a suspicious look.

I look to my uncle for answers.

"Magical door most likely. Salas is probably in his study working on something."

I just keep staring at him hoping he will stop messing around and seriously answer my unasked question about the weird guy trying to hide behind a lamp.

He doesn't.

"Come on, let's go." He says grabbing my shoulder. "Stick close to me." he says seriously as if he doesn't see the weird dude.

As we make our way down the hallway I see the weird guy jog past us and slowly open the door we were walking to.

My uncle looks at me smugly "There's your Proof. If you need any more, that is." He says it in a way that tells me that he is either just as crazy as the weird dude, or he genuinely can't see the guy.

Trusting my uncle and the fact that he is scared of my grandpa I continue into the room with him.

Entering the study I see my uncle grin and walk up to the desk.

"Salas, how are you doing? Some interesting magic you use on your house." My uncle said as if this Salas didn't just open the door and put down the lamp before going to sit down at his desk and open a book.

"Yes, well I needed some extra security from Grigori. They've been on my ass recently." The man Salas said pushing up his glasses as if he didn't just hide behind a fucking lamp.

Looking back and forth between my uncle and Salas I contemplate leaving. 'These people are insane. I need to get away from them.'

"What about you boy. What did you think about my magic?" Salas said, looking at me expectedly as if hoping I would be impressed.

"Oh yes, very impressive." I said while his grin grew. "I especially liked the thing you did with the lamp."

Salas goes from grinning to coughing in embarrassment real fast, while my uncle gives me and him a weird look before asking the question that needed answering.

"Well, you've seen him, is there anything you can do?"

Salas calms himself before giving me a once over and putting on a prideful look.

"Yes I can, as a matter of fact I already know the problem." He said smugly as my uncle and I got excited.

"What is it?" My uncle asks.

"HMMM," Salas starts with a shit eating grin. "I'm not going to tell you."

My uncle got furious. "If I didn't help you secure that Fallens corpse it would have taken another 50 years to become Ultimate-Class, and now you won't repay the favor."

The room falls to silence for a second before Salas once again speaks up.

"I never said I wouldn't repay the favor, I just said I wouldn't tell you the problem." He says.

"Why." My uncle demands in a stained voice.

"Because it involves personal matters. So you can either leave until I summon you back to pick up the boy all fixed up, or you can leave now and the boy will die before the age of 20."

My uncle gets ready to argue, but I grab his arm and ask him to leave.

"Why." He demands.

"Because I would rather take this chance then die before 20 and leave my parents childless once again." At this my uncle finally calms down.

He looks at Salas and says "You have 3 hours before I return." and then stormed out of the building.

"Good" Salas says to my annoyance. He notices and puts an explanation into his next words.

"If your uncle were to have stayed you would have left this place in magic dampening cuffs."

I feel anger rise up in me at this remark.

"My uncle wouldn't do that. My mother would never allow him." I say trying to convince myself of the matter.

Salas is silent for a second and gives me a look that conveys pity.

"Ohh, but she might not stop him." He says.

Seething in an anger I attempt to suppress, my mind can't help but think. What right does he have to say something like that? What right does he have to feel pity for me?

"You're a Devil." He states calmly. "Or perhaps a Fallen or a Demigod." He says as if to soften the blow that this is doing to my mental state.

"Either way you're at best a pagan, and at worst a heretic." He says with another look of pity.

"Stop looking at me like that." I roar, not being able to contain my anger. Immediately after I started coughing as my body couldn't handle the outburst of emotions I just released.

We stay there in silence for a couple of seconds before he starts to talk again this time with an explanation that answers all my questions, but not how I thought they would.

"The fact that you can see through my invisibility lamp without magic means there is something about you biologically that can.

The only 4 races that can do this who have a presence in the United States are Angel's, Fallen, Devil's, and Demigods.

You're not an Angel because they would fall if they had you. You're likely not a Fallen because their population is so low their leadership would kill anyone who tried to hide you. You're most likely not a Demigod because the Gods all swore an oath that would result in a war between multiple factions if broken."

Taking a deep breath he continued. "That only leaves devils. They are regaining members through the evil piece system, and they can have children unlike angels.

That being said, there are two factions among the devils. The Satan Faction and the Anti-Satan Faction. You are most likely from the Anti-Satan Faction."

We both sat there in silence for a while. My thoughts are in a mess and I am having trouble breathing. Angels, Fallen, Devils, and Gods. Devils split into two factions, and magic being a real thing.

There's only one place in my memories that matches up to this place, and it isn't a possibility I can ignore due to the immense similarities.

DxD. 'God is Dead.' was the last thought to go through my head before I finally hyperventilated myself into fainting.
