Chapter Thirty Two: The Reality

A small shadow crosses over the battlefield, a vampire lands in front it Gabriel and the others. " The words they speak are true. There is a new Queen. Gwen has taken the throne, and has have given strict orders to not attack Gabriel and Kara. We are to return immediately" This was the scout that had been sent out, and he had arrived just in time. The Vampires, without another word, took to the sky, blocking out the sun and dissapeared in the distance leaving Kara, Gabriel, Cassie and the others without a fight they had prepared for.

" Thank the Gods " Cassie breathed a sigh of relief, finally be able to release the tension her body was feeling. Gabriel shifted back into his human form and Kara's fire faded.

" I guess we can go back now" Kara smiled, trying to make conversation which was interupted by the cheers of the convoy. " YOU DID IT! YOU GUYS DID IT! " Margerat and the other humans cheered finally being free from the attacks of the Vampires. Gabriel, turns and begins walking back to the direction of the town from which they came. Cassie followed and so did Kara.

" Gabriel we need to talk" Kara tried to stop Gabriel who seemed to have no interest in speaking with her.

" Don't freaking ignore me " Kara demanded which made Gabriel stop walking.

" What.." Gabriel groans as Kara walks in front of him.

" I wanted to say that I'm sorry. I should not habe hesitated. I should have known what I wanted when I agreed to be your mate. But what I have always wanted was you. I want you Gabriel. I promise you that is the truth. I want Noone except for you. Gwen means nothing to me. She was a mistake that I made that I can't take back. But I would never take us back. We are not a mistake. We are the only thing that makes sense to me. We are messed up but we have reasons for that. We aren't perfect but we love one another. And that is enough for me. I just want It to be enough for you..I want to be enough for you " Kara smiles and takes Gabriel's hand in hers and places his hand over her heart. "My heart has been broken so many times Gabriel. But it Is still beating. And it beats for you. No matter how broken it is. Just please..don't give up on us".

Gabriel could feel the beating in Kara's chest. It was warm and it was strong, it heated his hand as he could feel it beating faster and faster when she looked at him.

" Kara.." Gabriel says.

" I have never stopped loving you. I die for you all over again if I had too but that doesn't change what we are. Every since we developed love for one another, it has been nothing but pain and suffering for us and others. We do nothing but cause hurt. To ourselves and each other. And Love, love isn't enough to fix everything we have done. If it could, it would have never happened in the first place. If our love, is what has caused all this. Then I don't think we should love one another anymore. I don't know how to stop that, I have never had to stop loving someone completely before. But this, this can't happen anymore " Gabriel removes his hand from her chest, feeling the beating slow down to an almost dead stop at his words.

" You are the only woman I have ever loved. The only woman I have ever mated and the only woman I will ever love or ever mate. But we can't keep this up. Not after everything. It is all wrong. It is all broken. It is all meaningless if we are all going to die because of what we have" Gabriel explained, Cassie could feel her own heart breaking at his words and couldn't imagine what Kara was feeling.

" This has to stop. One of us has to walk away. For good. And if it isn't going to be you. Then it has to be me"

Kara broke at his words. " I....I know..this..what we have..isn't healthy. But I can't let you go..it's too hard" Kara had tears pouring down her face. She knew what he was saying made sense but it didn't make it hurt any less.

" I know. That is why I will walk away. That is why no matter what happens from the point forward, you need to carry on. And you need to not give up on yourself. Because I won't be there " Gabriel stares down into Kara's eyes which only makes her cry harder.

" I don't want to say goodbye...its..it's not fair..." Kara cries, falling into Gabriel's arms.

" The world doesn't need us anymore Kara...you know that" Gabriel holds her in his arms" as Kara sobs onto his shirt.

" Its not fair Gabriel..it's not fair.. I just want you back...anything to have you back" Kara cries, closing her eyes, as Gabriel squeezes her tightly. "You know the truth, and you know what we would become. Where this would lead. What this would end up being. What we do and what we cause.. " Gabriel says. " But I love you nonetheless. You will see me again someday Kara...someday " He kisses moves her back from him and kisses her deeply, she kisses back, deeply as Gabriel begins to fades away from her. Kara opens her eyes and sees that Gabriel is now gone. Cassie is gone. The convoy is gone. Everyone and everything is gone. Kara sobs on the ground, knowing what this meant.
