Chapter Thirty Four: The Home Of The Serpents

Lysette and Ally were taken by both Gandy and LaLa down several tunnels, traveling for an hour or so before reaching a chamber, that was far more impressive in its size than any of the previous chambers. This Chamber was different in the sense that Several serpents, with a wide variety of colors, all roamed within it.

" So this is your family? " Lysette questioned Gandy who explained that his family had lived her for all of time. The home was within the deepest depths of the Underworld, and rested right next to, the core of the world itself.

" You both will be safe here. You can rest and eat as much as you like! My family will treat you with hospitality and you shall find plenty of time to recover" Gandy welcomed the two as he lowered his head so that they may venture on their own.

" We dont have beds or most things that I would imagine, your kind would eat. However, there is food here" Gandy looked towards a wide array of bushes, from which grew, strongly shaped fruit. It was shaped in the form of a curled snake, and was colored with the brightest shade of Pink.

" We do not eat those, but they may be to your liking" Lala explained.

" Lysette approached the fruit and plucked one off from the bush and placed it to her nose, she sniffed it at first and sensed no immediate danger and then took a small bite, which filled her mouth with wonderful flavors. " It taste like..strawberries and Milk" Lysette turned and approached Ally and offered her some of the fruit, which Ally snacked on happily.

" I am glad that you approve" Gandy smiled.

" I really do want to thank you for all your help. You have been nothing but kind to us and we cannot thank you enough for all that you've done. And if there is anything that we may ever do for you, Please just call upon us" Lysette wanted to repay the debt thar she owed to their new friends in some way but she was not sure of what she could do for such powerful beings.

" Actually, there is something that you can do for me" Gandy widened his eyes, as he stared down at his two strange friends.

" I wish for you to deliver a message for me" Gandy slide his tongue from his mouth and then quickly back In.

" A message? To whom? " Lysette asked.

" I wish for you to deliver a message to Chicken Salad" Gandy spoke confidently.

" That's a food dish..not a person " Lysette pointed out.

" ah.." Gandy shook his head. " I meant, I wish for you to deliver a message to the village of Cavandash"

" I don't even know where that is.." Lysette had never heard of this place, unless it resided within the Well, she was unsure of any village in the Underworld that existed with that name.

" It is within the Kingdom of the Vampires.." Gandy explained.

" One of my former enemies lives there" he continued.

" I wish for you, to deliver a message to him. His name, is Lero" Gandy looked to Lala who nodded.

" I want him to know, that I have finally passed his test. And that I am ready to transcend beyond the mortal plain" Gandys request was quite the strange one. Lysette of course would deliver this message but she had to know more about this test.

" What test? " Lysetted asked eagerly.

" I was tasked long ago, with Finding the child, who would bring the world a new order. And that, is my dear friend Ally. I was told, that if I find this child, that I would be granted death" Gandy explained.

" Why in the hell would you want to die? " Lysette had even more questions than answers.

" Existence from my kindest pain. We can never truly die. And thus, we continue to roam. I guess it makes sense why we were charged with protecting the Well. Who better to protect the most sacred of places, than a being who cannot die" Gandy answered.

" I don't want you to die Gandy " Ally pleaded. " You are so kind and sweet. It is you who makes this world better, not me" Ally cried, tears running down her cheek as she dropped the fruit and ran to him.

" I know exisistence is pain for you. Living so long must be really hard. But, I want to be your friend. And I hope I can make you want to live..or at least give you a reason too" Ally continued to plead.

" I don't want you to go" Ally cried as she ran up to the giant Serpent and hugged against him tightly.

" Mmmm" Gandy sighed. " I know that this is hard for you little one..but, my time should come to an end " Gandys heart broke for Ally, he never meant to hurt her.

" I agree with Ally, I don't think you should die. There are not enough good beings within this world. But you, and your kind..are amazing. And perhaps we could all learn something from you" Lysette too, felt saddened by Gandys request but also understood his plea.

" My role is not to guide or teach, only to protect" Gandy relented.

" No! " Ally screamed. " Life is what you make it. You have the choice to do whatever you want. You can protect, because it's a responsibility. But if you went another way, and you taught the world how to be kind, then perhaps the Well wouldn't need protecting in the first place. There are many ways to achieve a goal, it doesn't have to be one specific way" Ally explained which surprised Gandy.

" Your intelligence for your age is astounding. Perhaps we should all be learning from you" Gandy smiled.

" Please don't die Gandy..please" Ally hugged her friend again and refused to let go.

" You make my heart weap little Ally..I will stay..but still Lero, must be informed" Gandy persisted.

" Why did he want to know about Ally in the first place? " Lysette questioned though Gandy, simply did not have the answers.

" He came to me long ago and informed me of a child that would save the world. And I believe that to be Ally. He is an enemy, as he had stolen from the Well without permission. But he had also offered me a way to die..so..I allowed him to leave" Gandy explained.

" What I don't understand is.. The well contentnently protect itself. No one can leave with its contents..so I don't understand why you were needed in the first place" Lysette had began to suspect something was amiss and it could have something to do with this Lero person that Gandy mentioned and so Lysette agreed to deliver this message to Lero once she found him and then, ask some questions of her own to this strange individual.
